The course aims to provide knowledge and understanding of the methodological, critical and applicable aspects of the Discipline; it proposes geographical areas and sectorial perspectives in which related projects are activated; it shows the variability of fields of interest; it enables the student to master the specific topics in order to use them and apply them in other fields of study while using the correct specific language. With the acquired knowledge the student will be able to develop autonomous ability of connections with other disciplines in the various historical epochs and cultural contexts.

Ability to contextualise the novels of the 1950s from a historical and literary perspective

General knowledge of 20th century Italian literature

The course involves reading several Italian novels from the 1950s in their entirety.

Bibliography will be indicated at the beginning of the course

The course will consist of lectures with discussion.

Attendance is optional, although recommended.

The examination is ORAL. The knowledge and skills required will be tested by means of an open written examination. The preparation will be considered adequate: 1) if the student demonstrates the ability to expound using relevant terminology; 2) if the student demonstrates an understanding of the issues addressed in the course and is able to apply them autonomously to the reflection on the works proposed, showing that he/she has been able to elaborate on the contents of the course.

1) Interpretation of certain passages from the novels;
2) Historical and literary contextualisation of the novels examined;
3) Ideological and stylistic issues raised by the novels examined.
