The course of geography teaching, addressing the main issues concerning the learning / teaching processes of geography, highlights the relationships between research and disciplinary teaching and identifies teaching methodologies and tools able to promote in students an appropriate use of vocabulary and categories interpretations of the discipline in order to be able to understand and contextualise the environmental and anthropological characteristics of the territory.

Course topics: geographic skills and the assumptions of the vertical geography curriculum; learning units; teaching practices; direct observation; indirect observation and the tools of geo-graphicity (iconic instruments, literary-linguistic tools, ludiform instruments); space and time; geotechnologies; values in geographic education.

By the end of the course, students will understand and be able to recognize the scientific language of the discipline in relation to the presentation of the main stages in the history of geographical thought and, therefore, the changes over time in the epistemological framework of reference. They will also understand and be able to translate the language of geography into teaching practice, through the study and exercises of general cartography and the critical analysis of geographical representations (cartography, photography, audiovisuals, literary texts, etc.), including their performative characterization.
Students will be able to independently navigate critical reading and use planning, organizational, and delivery tools in accordance with current legislation (PTOF, curriculum, National Guidelines, etc.).

Lessons will take place in person

During the course, the attending student will be asked to create didactic learning units and / or to simulate lessons (frontal, flipped classroom, circletime, etc.).
The final exam consists of a quiz with both open and closed questions, including one / two questions aimed at ascertaining the knowledge and skills of general cartography, to be carried out in 60 minutes.
