This advanced Course on art criticism is aimed at improving the students' critical tools for interpreting the diverse modes of producing, seeing, and describing a visual representation. It also provides the necessary tools in order to gain a deep knowledge of specific themes in an original and critical way.
serves as an introductory course for the production of original work in the field, with specific reference to the dissertation.

The course retraces the fundamental stages of the methodological debate on the arts over the last three quarters of a century, allowing us to understand how today's cultural revisionism, prejudicially known as cancel culture or maga culture, has changed the way we see images, influencing critical judgment of works of art. The course focuses on the social history of art, the issues of art anthropology, the debate between visual culture and art history, and the impact of postcolonial and gender studies on the discipline.
