Learning outcomes
Students must understand the role and purposes of laboratory medicine, understand the operational logic and general organization of the laboratory, develop the ability to critically interpret laboratory data, and be aware of the potential and limitations of the information provided by laboratory tests.
They must be familiar with the application of the main methods of clinical biochemistry, clinical pathology, microbiology, and parasitology.
They must acquire knowledge of both the performance of simple analyses and the organization and equipment required for automated and complex analyses
Prerequisites
The student must have acquired the fundamental concepts of the basic disciplines of biology, biochemistry, and physiology.

Lessons mode
The teacher delivers lectures with traditional methods with audiovisual aids and scheduling of lessons as reported on GOMP Aule/Orari system, published on the website of the Degree Course.
For professional training activities, students will be divided into groups based on their size and assigned to a teacher or tutor.
Frequency
Attendance is mandatory
Exam mode
The exam consists of an oral exam that deals with one or more topics of the individual modules in detail. The knowledge related to each module contributes together with the overall assessment. To pass the exam the student must obtain a grade of not less than 18/30 in each module.
The frequency of lessons is also taken into consideration for the evaluation.
Exams are held at the end of the course.
Example exam questions
Oral exam on the topics of each module to assess students' ability to make connections between the topics covered in the exam.
