Objectives

The course is at the end of the training course of the second semester of the fourth year.
The purpose is to make people learn:
knowledge :
of the infectious diseases clinic through the use of the information already acquired integrating them with elements of epidemiology virology bacteriology and parasitology as well as elements of immunity for a correct therapeutic diagnostic procedure of the same
of the diagnostic-therapeutic clinical trial regarding aspects of reproductive medicine
the SKILLS
to conduct a correct systematic anamnesis and to write it in a terminologically appropriate manner.
to conduct the general objective examination in the patient with infectious disease and pathologies - alterations inherent to the medicin of reproduction
SKILLS
of pathophysiological reasoning to be able to interpret signs and symptoms and to identify the problem from which to start the diagnostic procedure.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student must know the main infectious syndromes, know how to define them, know the etiological diagnostic methods, the clinical presentation and the principles of antibiotic therapy. The student must know the problem of antibiotic resistance and the main methods of sample collection to carry out culture tests aimed at making the etiological diagnosis of an infectious disease.
In addition, the student is expected to develop clinical reasoning skills and acquire a methodological approach to the diagnostic and therapeutic management of the main infectious syndromes, with an overview of differential diagnosis.

Prerequisites

The student must have obtained exams in microbiology/virology/parasitology and laboratory medicine
