Objectives

mathematical analysis
Knowledge and understanding
Acquire knowledge of the fundamental concepts of analysis (limits, derivatives, integrals, series) and the understanding of their relative definitions, theorems, and properties.
Applying knowledge and understanding Be able to solve problems in differential and integral calculus in one or more variables, applying the learned methods to theoretical and practical contexts. Be able to use tools and techniques for the mathematical modeling of real phenomena.
Making judgementsDevelop the ability to evaluate the correctness and applicability of different calculation methods, choosing the most appropriate approach to solve a problem.
Communication skills Be able to communicate results, proofs, and mathematical reasoning in a clear and rigorous manner, using the appropriate terminology and symbolism.
Learning skills Develop the necessary skills to independently deepen advanced topics in mathematical analysis and to tackle, using the learned tools, disciplines that require mathematical knowledge.

medical statistics
Knowledge and understanding Know the fundamental principles of descriptive statistics (measures of central tendency and dispersion, graphic representations) and inferential statistics (probability, sampling, hypothesis testing, confidence intervals). Understand the importance and role of statistics in medical research and practice.
Applying knowledge and understanding Be able to collect and organize health data. Be able to read the results of appropriate statistical tests (e.g., t-test, Chi-square) to draw conclusions.
Making judgements Develop the ability to critically interpret the results of statistical analyses in clinical and epidemiological settings. Be able to assess the validity and reliability of data-based scientific studies and publications.
Communication skills Be able to present and discuss statistical results (tables, graphs, p-values) in an understandable manner, using correct statistical and medical language.

scientific english
Knowledge and understanding Command a wide lexical and grammatical range (CEFR Level B2 or higher). Comprehend complex texts on concrete and abstract topics with ease, including technical or specialized articles.
Applying knowledge and understanding Be able to produce clear and detailed texts on a variety of subjects and to interact fluently and spontaneously in conversations, demonstrating a flexible and effective use of the language for social, academic, and professional purposes.
Making judgements Be able to evaluate and select English-language sources, expressing well-reasoned opinions and supporting arguments with clear, structured arguments in debates or presentations.
Communication skills Communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) with a level of accuracy that does not cause ambiguity and with clear pronunciation, managing discourse and interactions appropriately for the context.
Learning skills Be able to monitor and improve one's language level autonomously and to use the English language to undertake further studies or professional development with a high degree of independence.
