Learning outcomes
1. Conduct a systematic medical history and record it using appropriate medical terminology.
2. Take a medical history and develop a diagnostic approach considering sex, gender, sexual orientation, and gender identity.
3. Perform a regional physical examination on a “healthy subject” (head-to-toe, excluding specialized dermatological, gynecological, proctological, rheumatological, and ophthalmological maneuvers).
4. Understand and correctly use semiological terminology (as presented in the textbook).
5. Identify relevant information in brief clinical cases and relate it to pathophysiological processes.
6. Interpret signs and symptoms to identify the problem from which to begin the diagnostic process.
7. Understand the health and well-being of sexual and gender minorities (LGBTQ+), and use appropriate terminology when interacting with LGBTQ+ individuals.
8. Understand how an electromagnetic field interacts with the human body.
9. Know and use the reference quantities of bioelectromagnetism.
10. Recognize the technical characteristics of different electromagnetic field sources present in hospital environments.
11. Apply regulations for human protection from electromagnetic fields, with reference to the presented case studies.
12. Propose a solution for a simple case of bioelectromagnetic interaction.
Prerequisites
To successfully follow the course, students are expected to have acquired:
- knowledge of human anatomy, with particular reference to the macroscopic and microscopic structure of the main organs and systems;
- knowledge of physiology, concerning the functions of the various organs and the principal homeostatic mechanisms;
- basic notions of biochemistry and cell biology, useful for understanding the fundamental pathological processes;
- familiarity with basic medical terminology.

Research suggests that there is a need to ensure that health and social care professionals can deliver care and support to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals and those who otherwise identify as a minority regarding sexual orientation and gender identity (LGBTQ+). Specific training on LGBTQ+ issues may improve the competencies and skills of health and social care (HSC) professionals, which reduces the negative attitudes toward LGBTQ+ people. Despite this, there seems to be a lack of coverage of LGBT+ needs in HSC education. The present course aims to explore the specific LGBTQ+ training needs of HSC professionals and examine the relationship between these training needs.
During the past several years, many official public health agencies called for programs addressing the specific needs of LGBTQ+ people (Baiocco & Pistella, 2019; Branstrom & van der Star, 2013). Health and social care professional education must cover LGBT+ issues to enable health and social care professionals to provide quality services free from sexual prejudice and discrimination.
The present course aims to respond to the specific LGBT+ training needs for health and social care professionals to develop a culturally competent LGBTQ+ university curriculum.
Moreover, there are numerous challenges that health and social care professionals must address and overcome in order to achieve more inclusive and supportive environments, such as overcoming ignorance and fear, lack of confidence, negative religious beliefs, cultural and personal views, and the lack of a learning culture that values diversity.

1. Know how to conduct a complete semiological assessment of the cardiovascular system and peripheral pulse characteristics
2. Know how to evaluate signs and symptoms of possible CV disease in order to identify the problem from which to start the diagnostic process
3. Recognize clinical presentation patterns and correlate them with pathophysiological processes (cardiac cycle; fluid dynamics; intracavitary pressure analysis)
4. Know how to conduct a diagnostic pathway for patients with possible cardiovascular disease.

The examination includes a practical test designed to assess the student’s ability to perform a complete physical examination. The test consists of the random selection of one of five possible physical examinations (general examination, head and neck, chest and heart, abdomen, or neurological) and its performance on a peer acting as the patient (peer-to-peer physical examination). The evaluation will focus on the student’s ability to correctly perform the maneuvers, to accurately describe the findings, and to record them in the medical chart.
In addition, the instructor will simulate a clinical case and assess the student’s ability to conduct the medical history (anamnesis) in all its parts and to complete the corresponding medical record.
If the practical test is passed (graded as pass or fail, without a numerical score), the student is then admitted to the written examination, which consists of a series of multiple-choice and/or open-ended questions.
