Objectives

The integrated course is aimed to allow to the student to:
Know the etiologic bases and the pathogenic mechanisms of human diseases, and the fundamental physiopathological mechanisms of the main organs and apparatuses.
Understand the fundamental pathogenetic and physiopathologic mechanisms of human diseases.
Know how to perform the interventions aimed to the analysis of the main pathogenetic and physiopathologic mechanisms of human diseases and to interpet their results.
Be aware that the knowledge of etiopathogenetic bases of diseases and of the physiopathologic processes is the essential substrate for the following clinical approach of human diseases.

Learning outcomes

The student must acquire the basic knowledge necessary to understand the subjects of subsequent years. In particular, he or she must be familiar with cellular degeneration, types of cell death, immunology (innate and acquired), immunopathology, oncology (oncogenes, tumor suppressor genes, oncoviruses), cardiac, renal, endocrine etc pathophysiology.

Prerequisites

the stdent must have deve avere lethe basic knoledge of biology, istology and phisiology

Programme

• Definition of general Pathology. Health status and pathological manifestations. Etiology and pathogenesis. Evolution, course and outcomes of disease.
• Environmental pathology. Pathology from physical agents (radiant energy, thermal energy, electrical energy, mechanical energy). Pathology from chemical agents. Biological agents as a cause of disease.
• • Molecular pathology: Molecular pathology of proteins. Molecular pathology Noncoding RNAs, histone modifications and DNA methylation. Enzyme deficiency pathology.
• Pathology of cellular structures: Cell response to damage: cellular stress, cellular adaptations (hypertrophy, hyperplasia, atrophy, metaplasia). Molecular mechanisms of cellular damage. Mechanisms of cell death. Intracellular accumulation (steatosis, glycogenosis, lysosomal diseases). Aging.
•Inflammation: generalities on inflammation: acute (angiophlogosis) and chronic (histophlogosis) inflammation; Receptors of innate immunity and inflammation. Cells of inflammation. Chemical mediators of inflammation. Mechanisms of exudate formation and types of exudate. Chronic nongranulomatous inflammation and chronic granulomatous inflammation.
• Pathophysiology of thermoregulation: febrile and nonfebrile hyperthermias, hypothermias.
. Immunology: innate and acquired immunity. Immunopathologies
Oncology. Tumor benign and malign. Tumor immunology Tumor classification. Oncoviruses
Phisiopathology cardiac, renal, respiratory and endocrin
