Learning outcomes
The Clinical Gnathology course aims to equip students with the skills to identify and classify the various clinical conditions related to dental occlusion, to understand and evaluate the relationships between occlusion and all other stomatognathic and non-stomatognathic components, to understand stomatognathic functions and diagnose craniocervicomandibular dysfunctions and their implications, to understand and evaluate stomatognathic pain and its phenomenology, and to be able to develop an appropriate treatment plan, including from a multidisciplinary perspective. To achieve these objectives, students must acquire knowledge of the therapeutic implications, both in growing and adult patients, as well as the discerning ability to recognize more complex cases and refine their clinical differential diagnosis skills.
Furthermore, students must acquire a basic understanding of posture and body balance, often implicated in occlusal and joint alterations, and the main forms of sleep-related breathing disorders, pathologies that have specific gnathological implications in both diagnostic and therapeutic settings.
