Knowledge of the structure and the behavior of atoms and molecules. Knowledge of basic concepts of thermodynamics and kinetics. The student will be able to describe the proprerties of the gases, liquids and solutions.

The aim of the course is to give the student the basic aspects of chemistry and provide the understanding of chemical topics of geological interest developed in other courses.

Prerequisites

Basic concepts of mathematics and physics (logarithmic calculation, 1st and 2nd degree equations, exponential notation, interpretation of two-dimensional diagrams), knowledge of the main units of the International System of Units, ability to set up simple numerical exercises.
