At the end of the course, students will be familiar with the features of the different types of business organizations, for what concerns their objectives, their organizational models, their management systems and the tools for representing efficiency and effectiveness.

The course presents the basics of business administration, defined as the discipline that studies and elaborates knowledge and theories that are useful in governing those organizations that carry out economic activities.
The methodologic approach of the course is based on the analysis of the organizational behaviour of three different organizations: 1) for profit enterprises, 2) public administrations and 3) non profit organizations.
The course will cover the concepts and models that are employed to describe and interpret the functioning of the different types of businesses:
1) the institutional structure of the business and the governance models;
2) the efficiency and efficacy of the business, and the conditions for economic and financial balance;
3) The strategy and the strategic positioning in the competitive environment and the competitive strategies;
4) the basics of accounting and reporting;
5) the organization models and human resource management;
6) the basics of managerial accounting and performance management;
7) cross-sectoral collaborations.

Attendance is not mandatory

The final exam will be an oral test consisting of three questions (maximum score: 10 points each).
Attending students may choose to take an optional oral exam in the form of a teaching demonstration, based on the flipped classroom model (a practical assessment in which students demonstrate the knowledge and skills acquired by orally presenting a specific content in front of the class and the teacher).
In this case, the oral exam will consist of two questions (maximum score: 10 points each), while the optional teaching demonstration may be awarded a maximum score of 10 points.
