Objectives

1. Knowledge and understanding: after having passed the exam students will have basic knowledge about cultural anthropology on the historical, theoretical, conceptual and methodological levels with particular reference to the understanding of contemporary world, the comparison between "complex " societies, popular cultures and non-European peoples, ethnography as an anthropological methodology characterizing the discipline and of cultural diversity .
2. Applying knowledge and understanding: after having passed the exam students should be able to understand contemporaneity using cultural anthropology, to use concepts such as identity, culture, ethnicity, tradition and the methodology of ethnographic research.
3. Critical faculties should be related to the ability of looking at contemporary cultural and social dynamics and processes that relate to the relationships between local cultures, cultural diversity and global scenarios.
4. Communications skills. The ability to communicate what was learned should be developed through students’ participation in discussions, through critical readings of texts and presentations
5. Learning skills. The ability to continue studying the topics should be developed through… (activities).
