1. Knowledge and understanding: after having passed the exam students should have the basic knowledge of the main stages of political, social and cultural history of European and extra-European countries across the Twentieth century, as well as to learn the methodology of historical research and of historiographical debate

Applying knowledge and understanding: after having passed the exam students should be able to discuss the basic knowledge of the main stages of political, social and cultural history of European and extra-European countries across the Twentieth century, as well as to have a mature knowledge of the methodology of historical research and of historiographical debate. Moreover, to connect the social issues with the historical context
3. Critical faculties should be developed using different historical sources and attending the debates. Moreover, students should exercise the knowledge of the main stages of political, social and cultural history of European and extra-European countries across the Twentieth century in occasion of workshops and practicing the knowledge of the methodology of historical research and of historiographical debate
4. Communications skills. The ability to communicate what was learned about the main stages of political, social and cultural history of European and extra-European countries across the Twentieth century should be developed through written papers and presentations.
5. Acquired skills should be permanent. The ability to continue studying the topics should be developed through the provision of an updated international bibliography regarding the main stages of political, social and cultural history of European and extra-European countries across the Twentieth century.

Basic knowledge of Contemporary History

MUSIC MAKING HISTORY aims to study and teach Contemporary History outside US using African-American music as an agent that directly affects European and Mediterranean history, accelerating social, political, economic processes and transformations. MMH introduces Jazz and Rock and Roll music as essential clues and perspectives for the studying and the understanding of 20th century political and social history. Its program aims to help students understand the socio-political impact, and all the complexity of the arrival of the African-American culture in post WWII Europe, along with Rock and Roll music.
