Course objectives

The main aim of the course is to analyze the new narrative universes affected by the phenomenon of cultural and media convergence. The deepening of theoretical knowledge is to support that of practical skills related to the design and implementation of different types of transmedia products. Through an interdisciplinary approach, which takes into account the contributions of psychoanalysis, sociology and media studies, the course also aims to analyze how figures, archetypes, symbols and forms of the collective imagination play a fundamental role in the production of cultural contents 1. Knowledge and understanding. The course aims to provide students with the knowledge necessary to understand the changes that affect the contemporary creative industries, with particular to increasingly complex and connected narrative forms; moreover, it offers the instruments suitable for understanding the modalities of conception and diffusion of transmedia projects, in the light of the innovations introduced by media convergence and participatory culture. 2. Ability to apply knowledge and understanding. The course offers the opportunity to acquire the appropriate skills for the design, management and creation of creative content distributed on different media platforms. 3. During the lessons students are offered laboratory activities, exercises in itinere on specific case studies, with the aim of developing critical skills for the analysis of transmedial products. There are also opportunities for discussion and discussion in the classroom. 4. As part of the workshop, students are asked to present the work done thanks to the skills acquired through the use of multimedia supports (slides, videos, pitches) and to develop effective exhibition skills. 5. The theoretical tools are oriented towards the acquisition of a method of study and research suitable for the analysis of transmedia contents.
