The course aims to provide knowledge of the general concepts and fundamental themes of Political Theory of the XXth century, knowledge necessary to appropriately frame the various political science disciplines and to allow students to form an autonomous vision of contemporary political problems, national and international.
Students will therefore acquire a greater critical and evaluative capacity in the specific field of their studies acquiring hermeneutical skills and strengthening their practical-applicative skills. These will be tested with discussions around the topics of the lectures and with requests for papers that the students will present on topics of their choice, coordinated with the lessons and applied to current political topics.

The topics covered during the lessons, in addition to developing critical reflection, allow students to develop analytical skills on the main themes addressed during the course.

Knowledge of the main issues of international politics and fundaments of political philosophy.

The program is divided into three parts:

1) Study and in-depth analysis of liberalism, declined in a theoretical sense, with references to the different layers and morphologies that characterize it.

2) From a methodological point of view, we will follow the development of the concept of political liberalism in its various contemporary declinations.

3) Comparative analysis of theoretical models: liberalism, conservatism, sovereignism, representative democracy, traditionalism and nationalism.

Teaching will take place through a discussion panel on the main theoretical topics addressed. Students are required to present a paper during the midterm exam with a topic of their choice among those proposed in the course.

Preferably in person, with a considerable number of lesson hours attended.

The final evaluation will consist of an oral test (minimum three questions on the program) following the intermediary evaluation.
