The rapid development of ICT and the advancement of Artificial Intelligence have driven novel changes in individual and social life, requiring a rethinking of the foundational ideas and tenets of Legal Systems as carved by European Tradition. The course aims to investigate the digital revolution's complex legal impact on Private Law.
The course will provide an in-depth analysis of the evolution of Private Law, facing both sides of the Digital challenge: opportunities and risks for individuals’ interests and the Information Society as a whole.

The course aims to contribute to developing analytical and critical skills by continuously referencing doctrinal debate and Italian and European case law.
At the end of the course, students will be able to apply the knowledge acquired in managing and solving the vast variety of problems the new technologies pose. They will be capable of adequately developing accurate analysis and critical arguments and handling the jurisprudence and doctrinal guidelines.

Students must have an overall knowledge of the institutes of Private Law.

The course will provide an in-depth analysis of the following subject matters:
1) Innovation, Technology, and Data protection;
2) Law of Contract and Information Society Services;
3) Personal Data, Digital Assets, and Property Rights;
4) Civil Liability - Artificial Intelligence.

The final exam will consist of an individual oral interview. It will take about 20 minutes and consist of three questions on different items.

The course will be in-person, and class attendance is not mandatory.

The course is about more than just the teacher's presentation of the subject matter.
It requires students' active interaction, where they can propose spontaneous questions and observations or be solicited by the teachers on topics. Students’ profitable participation during classes will be considered within the overall assessment of their preparation, emphasizing our value on their contributions.
