Course program
This course provides introductory profiles of European Union policies, focusing on the internal market and the digital market in particular, as well as the most recent legislation adopted in these areas. It also covers the free movement of persons, services and capital, the area of freedom, security and justice (including insights into the impact of digital technologies in this area), the protection of personal data, competition policy (with a special focus on the evolution of this issue in the context of the digital market) and sectoral policies (including consumer protection in the digital market).
The course is part of the Jean Monnet Chair ‘Digital Rights Empowerment Across Markets in the European Union (DREAM-EU)’.
Prerequisites
Even if it is not binding, students should have a knowledge of the European Union legal order, in particular the institutional framework; the values of the EU; the sources of EU Law, the decision-making process; the relations between the EU and the national legal orders.

Frequency
Attendance is not compulsory, but it is nevertheless recommended, because several group activities will be carried out during the course, which require the active participation of students.
Exam mode
The examination will be oral and it usually includes three questions on the whole program. It will be taken into consideration either the knowledge acuired by the students and the reasoning skills.
Intermediate tests on a part of the program and other in-depth group work are provided for attending students.
Lesson mode
Professor will hold face-to-face lectures that will give to students the knowledge described in the part on the aims of the course. Furthermore, taking into account the composition of the class and the interests showed by students, some seminar or working groups on specific topics may be organized.
