The purpose of the course is reasoning in holystic terms on the relation between space, power and resources. The geographical approach allows to ponder on a vast scale and multiple keys of spacial analysis in order to deeply understand the role of natural resources in the contemporary power dinamics.
In line with these methodological tools, not only do the course approach the analysis of resource concept in a monodimensional way, but it also interprets the resources as a wider field of study, which means not just as simple points of contention among several actors.
In fact, the course offers an alternative approach where both the resources and their related political relations within a certain space are functional lenses for studying power in its different meanings. It implies that the resources analysis is an essential reasoning tool that cannot be neglected for the comprehension of the power which struggles to control the above mentioned resources.
All the themes will be declined using the proper tools of the geopolitical analysis. It means that the fact-finding will be linked to the spacial contest in which each resource is used. The preferential areas of study will be the Europe, the Mediterranean Sea and the Near and Middle East.
