Learning outcomes

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

* describe the structure and main functions of cells;
* explain the structure and biological role of the major classes of biomolecules;
* understand the fundamental processes of cellular metabolism and energy production;
* describe the main mechanisms of DNA replication, gene expression, and cell communication;
* relate molecular and cellular processes to the functioning of the human body;
* recognize the consequences of major molecular and cellular alterations in pathological conditions;
* use basic biological and biochemical terminology correctly;
* integrate the acquired knowledge with subsequent biomedical and nursing disciplines.

Prerequisites

Knowedge of basic chemistry
