EXAMS

EXAMS

In order to obtain a degree, students must pass the assessment tests related to all the training activities foreseen in the study course. By passing the assessment tests, students acquire the number of ECTS credits foreseen for that specific training activity. However, the assessment may involve the assignment of a simple pass/fail judgment, or the awarding of a vote, as in the case of profit exams. In this latter case, the score is expressed in thirtieths and the exam is considered passed when a vote of at least 18/30 is obtained. In cases of particular merit, praise (lode) can be added to the maximum mark of 30/30.

In order to simplify, on this page, all the evaluation tests will be referred to with the term "exam".

First of all, it is necessary to bear in mind that exams can be taken only after the end of the semester in which the course took place and that it is normally not possible to take exams that are foreseen in a year of course subsequent to the year the student is enrolled.

During the exam, students can "reject" an evaluation should they deem it unsatisfactory and then do the exam again at a later date. However, under no circumstances can students take an exam again once they have accepted the result.

Calendar of exam sessions

In each academic year, there are three ordinary periods for exams:

  • Ordinary period one: in January and February. Students enrolled in their first year can only take the exams they attended during the first semester, while students enrolled in the following years can, in addition to the exams of the first semester courses, also take those included in the study plan of previous years which they have yet to take;
  • Ordinary period two: in the months of June and July. Students enrolled in the first year can take all the exams of the first year, while students enrolled in the years following year one can take the exams related to the current year of the course and the ones included in the study plan of previous years, which they have yet to do;
  • Ordinary period three: in the months of September and October, but before the beginning of lessons. The same provisions for the second ordinary period apply.

Each teacher can, outside the three ordinary periods, set up extraordinary exam sessions reserved for undergraduates, “fuori corso”, repeating and part-time students or who have completed their attendance of the 4th year courses, plus students with disabilities or SLD.

These extraordinary exam sessions may be organized up to 31 January of the calendar year following the end of the relevant academic year. For example, an exam taken in an extraordinary session organized on January 15, 2022 may also be valid for the 2020/2021 academic year. In fact, the month of January is the only one in which exam sessions from the previous academic year (extraordinary sessions) and exam sessions of the first ordinary period of the new academic year can coexist. Students must therefore check the academic year of reference carefully before booking exams.

The Degree Programme Commission in CTF has also established that, at the discretion of the teacher, exam sessions can be set up near the Easter period, which are also open to current students.

Exam sessions

The exam sessions are published on Infostud by the lecturers of the exam commission and can be consulted, as well as on this system, also on this website, in the "Attendance" section, by clicking on the name of the course and then on that of the teacher .

The booking of exams must be carried out through the "Book exams" function of the Infostud system, to which student gain access with their own credentials (serial number and Infostud password).

After booking, students must print their booking receipt, which students must take along with an identity document to the exam session and on which the teacher will register the result supplying a signature. The receipt must be kept until the end of the academic career, as the Student Secretarial Office may request a copy upon presentation of the degree application.
