ATTIVITA SCIENTIFICA

La Dott.ssa Catizone è responsabile della Unita di Ricerca fisiopatologia della gonade maschile nel dipartimento di Scienze Anatomiche, Istologiche, Medico Legali e dell Apparato Locomotore.
La sua principale attività di ricerca è stata principalmente rivolta allo studio di fattori coinvolti nello sviluppo, nel differenziamento e nella fisiopatologia della gonade maschile In particolare la Dott.ssa A. Catizone ha focalizzato la sua attenzione sulla presenza e sul ruolo del Fattore di crescita epatocitario HGF e del suo recettore c- MET nella organogenesi embrionale e nello sviluppo postnatale del testicolo. Ha poi analizzato il sistema HGF/c-MET nei tumori testicolari a cellule germinali (TGCG),seminomi e non seminomi in collaborazione con gruppi di ricerca nazionali ed internazionali.
La Dott.ssa Angela Catizone ha dimostrato sia la presenza di HGF/c-Met nei diversi tipi di cellule testicolari, che una sua deregolazione nei TGCG.
Attualmente si occupa degli effetti della prolungata mancanza della forza di gravità in diverse linee di cellule normali e tumorali e degli effetti che questa assenza determina sul metabolismo e sulla fisiopatologia. In tale ambito la Dott.ssa ha sviluppato esperienza e competenza, soprattutto nell utilizzo di macchine che generano forze gravitazionali variabili da applicare poi ai modelli sperimentali che si intende studiare; La dott.ssa ha generato anche modelli tridimensionali per meglio mimare le interazioni cellulari che avvengono in vivo. Tali modelli sperimentali sono stati poi usati per studiare come la microgravità simulata possa modulare l interazione e la paracrinia delle cellule, la loro organizzazione citoscheletrica, il loro metabolismo, lo stress ossidativo, le la produzione endocrina;
Parallelamente al suo filone principale di ricerca A. Catizone collabora con altri gruppi e mette a disposizione sia le proprie competenze scientifiche che metodologiche come esperto qualificato di Microscopia ottica Confocale ed Elettronica .I risultati di tali ricerche sono stati pubblicati su riviste scientifiche internazionali e portati come poster e/o comunicazioni orali a congressi nazionali e internazionali.

Dal 01/01/1989 ad oggi A. Catizone è responsabile scientifica per progetti di ricerca universitari "Sapienza" e tutor di riferimento per progetti Avvio alla Ricerca
E stata responsabile scientifica per progetti di ricerca nazionale : PRIN 2008;
