- "Fellow" (1981/83)
- "Staff Member" (1984/87)
- "Scientific Associate" (1994/95).

Didactics.
At present, in the Physics Department of University "La Sapienza", I'm teaching:
- "Mechanics", for Bachelor students of Physics,
- "Astroparticle Physics" for Master students of Physics and Astrophysics,
- "Astronomy with Ultra High Energy Neutrinos" for the PhD in Physics.
I've also been teaching "Experiments of Physics III" for students of Physics and "Physics" for students of Informatics.

Since 2012 I'm member of the College of the PhD school in "Physics"

In the period 2010-2012 I've been member of the College of the PhD school in "Astronomy, Astrophysics and Space Science"

Previously, at the University of Potenza, I have been teacher of:
- "General Physics" and "Institution of Theoretical Physics" for students of Mathematics,
- "Experiments of Physics" for students of Chemistry, of "Physics" for students of Informatics.

Research.
- 1974-1995. I have been working in several high energy physics experiments with CERN beams: at CERN-ISR (search for monopole production in "MultiGamma events", search for charmed mesons production, detection of Single Direct Photon detection, ; with the West-Hall neutrino beams (CHARM, CHARM-2, CHORUS, .. tests of Standard Model of Electro-Weak Interactions, Neutrino Interactions, Neutrino Oscillations).
- 1994/98 as Italian responsible of NESTOR experiment I've started my research in the field of high energy neutrino astronomy.
- Since 1998, as INFN coordinator of the Roma group, I've been one of the promoter of the Italian project NEMO for the construction of an under-water Cherenkov detector to search for very high energy neutrinos from astronomical sources. During 2001 NEMO and ANTARES collaboration decided to work together for the construction of a "Mediterranean Underwater Cherenkov Neutrino Telescope" with a dimension of 1km3. Following this agreement, a big part of NEMO collaboration, including Rome group, started to collaborate with ANTARES for the construction of Cherenkov detector in front of Toulon with dimensions ~ 1/20 of 1km3. Rome group initially participated at the construction of a set-up capable to monitor, on-line, all environmental properties (temperature, salinity, sound speed, water current, ...) that can affect the response of the main detector, then now is working in data analysis.
- 2003-2005: I've been Principal Investigator and responsible for the project "Technologies development for the detection of Astrophysical Neutrinos in undersea Telescopes" funded (414k ) by the Italian Minister of University and Research (PRIN-2003). With this project we started the also the development of the detection techniques of acoustic signals due to interactions in water of High Energy Neutrinos.
- 2006-2009. I participated writing the proposal of the KM3NeT "Design Study", funded by Europe in the framework of the Frame Program 6, and I've been the coordinator of the Work Package "Shore and deep-sea infrastructure".
- 2008-2012. Coordinator of the Work Packages "Industrial production for deep sea components" for the KM3NeT "Preparatory Phase" project funded by EU in the framework of 7th Frame Program.
- 2011 PI of the project "Sviluppo di una sorgente acustica compatta, basata su ceramiche piezoelettriche, per la calibrazione di una rete di sensori acustici sottomarini" funded (12k ) by the University "La Sapienza.
- At the end of 2011, in the framework of the Italian "National Operative Plan" (PON Ricerca e Competitività 2007-2013" a project for the construction of part of the KM3NeT Neutrino Telescope has been approved and funded: aim of this project was the construction of a deep Sea infrastructure to host the Cherenkov Neutrino Telescope and several Detection Units before the end of 2014.
- May 2012 - May 2015 I have been elected, by the "KM3NeT" Italian collaboration, spokesman of the Italian project.
- On March 2013 a Detection Unit prototype (a Tower) has been deployed at 3500m depth in Capo Passero site; this module has been operated with great success until summer 2014.
- On May 2014 a different technology prototype (String with multi-PMTs Optical Module), result of the technological development achieved by the KM3NeT Collaboration, has been deployed and operated successfully.
- On December 2015, in Capo Passero site, the first full scale String of the KM3NeT Telescope has been positioned and since then is in data acquisition. The construction continue today as well as the analysis of the collected data sample.
- 2015 PI of the project "Development of a GPU-based system for fast analysis of real time data streams" funded (10k ) by the University "La Sapienza.
- During 2015 I started to collaborate with LHAASO International Collaboration aiming at the construction of a large area (more than 1km2) detector for high energy astrophysical photons.
- 2016 PI for an agreement with the University of Sao Paulo (Brasil) for the research project "Approccio multi-messaggero alla ricerca di sorgenti astrofisiche di Raggi Cosmici di altissima energia" funded (5.5k ) by the University "La Sapienza".
- 2016 Responsible for a request of funds (funded with 9k by the University "La Sapienza") for a visiting professor (Prof. Manuela Vecchi) from the University of Sao Paulo (Brasil).
- 2016 PI of the project "Caratterizzazione e test di una sorgente acustica parametrica per la calibrazione di una rete di sensori acustici sottomarini" funded (13.k ) by the University "La Sapienza".
- 2018 PI of the project "Study of transient astrophysical sources of neutrinos and low and high energy photons with a multimessenger approach" funded (4.k ) by the University "La Sapienza".
- 2019 PI of the project Caratterizzazione delle sorgenti astrofisiche impulsive di fotoni di alta energia (GRB, AGN, Magnetars, . . .) e di onde gravitazionali: stima dei flussi di neutrini attesi da tali sorgenti funded in total with 37.8 k by the University "La Sapienza".
- My scientific activity is shared between ANTARES (analysis of data, member of the Publication Committee), construction of KM3NeT, calibration, tests of the KM3NeT modules (I'm also member of KM3NeT Publication Committee).
