INTERESSI DI RICERCA
Studio delle caratteristiche cognitive e del comportamento degli ominidi pre-Sapiens mediante l'archeologia sperimentale, l'analisi tecnologica e l'analisi funzionale dei manufatti archeologici. Studio delle competenze tecnologiche e della specializzazione tecnologica in contesti archeologici. Applicazione di tecniche innovative all'analisi dell'usura e dei residui di manufatti archeologici lapidei, ceramici, ossei e metallici.

Da marzo 2008 è Professore Associato presso l'Università degli Studi di Roma La Sapienza . Insegna Archeologia Sperimentale e Analisi delle Tracce d Uso e dei Residui applicata a manufatti archeologici.
Ha organizzato, e oggi dirige, il Laboratorio di Analisi Tecno-Funzionale dei Reperti Archeologici, Dip. di Lettere Classiche, Università di Roma La Sapienza .
Ha ottenuto come PI, per gli anni 2010, 2011, 2014, 2018, 2022 il finanziamento di Ateneo Sapienza per progetti interdipartimentali volti alla acquisizione di Medie Attrezzature e ammodernamento strumentazione.
Dal Dicembre 2022 E co-PI e massa critica del WP6 Spoke 5 del Partenariato Esteso 5 CHANGES (PNRR Sapienza)
E leader e collabora a vari progetti nazionali e internazionali riguardanti l'analisi tipologica, tecnologica e funzionale dei manufatti in pietra, in materia dura animale, in ceramica e in metallo provenienti da siti archeologici e contesti etnografici sia plio-pleistocenici che olocenici.
2007-2010 È stata la direttrice del progetto: Progettazione e sviluppo di un data-base di spettri FTIR (Fourier Transfer InfraRed) per l'interpretazione dei residui in contesti preistorici . ICRG 64 ICRG 91, finanziato dalla The Wenner-Gren Foundation (NY).
Dal 2009 coordina un progetto di ricerca sull'analisi delle tracce d uso e dei residui di manufatti litici da contesti del Paleolitico Inferiore di Israele sostenuto dal Ministero degli Affari Esteri (Progetto MAECI) dell'Università La Sapienza (Accordi Scientifici Internazionali).
Dal 2009 fa parte del team di studiosi coinvolti nello studio di vari siti Olduvaiani della Homa Peninsula (Kenya); è leader del team che si occupa dell analisi funzionale dei reperti litici.
Nel 2012 ha ottenuto un Grant FARI (Università La Sapienza) per testare la fattibilità di un progetto di analisi delle tracce di oggetti preistorici in pietra e strutture in pietra mediante l'applicazione della fotogrammetria.
Nel 2012 è stata co-organizzatrice del Workshop internazionale Un'integrazione tra tracce d uso e analisi dei residui per l'identificazione della funzione degli strumenti litici archeologici , tenutosi a Roma (5-7 marzo) e sostenuto dal Programma di finanziamento di Convegni e Workshop della Fondazione Wenner-Gren (NY).
Nel 2013 è stata co-organizzatrice del Workshop Internazionale L'origine del riciclo: una
Prospettiva Paleolitica , tenutosi a Tel Aviv (7-10 ottobre) e sostenuto e sostenuto dal Programma di finanziamento di Convegni e Workshop della Fondazione Wenner-Gren (NY).
Dal 2013 al 2019 ha fatto parte del team di studiosi coinvolti nello studio delle fasi neolitiche di atalhöyük ( atalhöyük Research Project, direttore prof. I.Hodder); è leader del team di ricerca incaricato dell analisi funzionale dell industria litica scheggiata.
Dal 2017 fa parte del team di studiosi coinvolti nello studio del sito del Paleolitico Inferiore di Notarchirico, Venosa (scavo e progetto scientifico diretto da Marie-Hélène Moncel); è leader del team di ricerca incaricato dell analisi funzionale dell industria litica scheggiata.

FORMAZIONE ACCADEMICA
19 aprile 1988: consegue la laurea in Archeologia presso l'Università degli Studi di Roma "La Sapienza". La tesi di laurea ha riguardato le potenzialità interpretative dell'analisi delle tracce d uso applicata alle industrie in selce del Paleolitico Medio.
21 ottobre 1997: ha conseguito il titolo di PhD of Archaeology presso la Leiden University (Olanda). La ricerca è stata pubblicata in BAR International Series: C.Lemorini (2000), Reconnaître des tactiques d'exploitation du milieu au Paléolithique moyen. Il contributo de l'analyse fonctionnelle. Etude fonctionnellle des industry lithiques de Grotta Breuil (Latium, Italie) et de La Combette (Bonnieux, Vaucluse, France), BAR (I.S.) 858.
1999-2001: ha partecipato ad un TMR Project CEE come borsista Post-Doc per applicare l'analisi delle tracce d suo ad un sito neolitico preceramico di Mar Morto (Israele), e a vari siti del Paleolitico Inferiore e Medio e dell'Età del Rame del Portogallo.
PUBBLICAZIONI
È autrice di una monografia, co-editore di quattro pubblicazioni e autrice di 198 articoli.

RESEARCH INTERESTS
Investigation of the hominins cognition and behavior by means of experimental archaeology, technological analysis and functional analysis of archaeological artifacts. Investigation of specialization in Prehistory. Application of innovative techniques to use-wear and residues analyses of archaeological stone, ceramic, osseous and metal artefacts.
PRESENT ACADEMIC POSITION
From March 2008 she is Associate Professor at the University of Rome La Sapienza . She teaches Experimental Archaeology and Use-Wear analysis of archaeological artifacts.
She has organized, and nowadays supervises, the Laboratory of Techno-Functional Analysis of Archaeological Artifacts, Dep. of Classics, University of Rome La Sapienza . She is the winner for years 2010, 2011, 2014 and 2018 of a grant from Sapienza University devoted to the improvement of the laboratory equipment (Finanziamenti Medie Atterzzature, Sapienza University).
RESEARCH ACTIVITY
She collaborates on various national and international projects on typological, technological and functional analysis of lithic industry, polished stones, macro-lithic artefacts, hard animal material artifacts, clay artifacts from both Plio-Pleistocene and Holocene archaeological sites and ethnographic contexts.
2007-2010 She was the director of the project: Developing a FTIR (Fourier Transfer InfraRed) spectra collection for interpreting residues of the prehistoric activities. ICRG 64 ICRG 91, supported by The Wenner-Gren Foundation (NY).
Since 2009 she coordinates a research project of traces analysis of Lower Paleolithic contexts of Israel supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE Project) by Sapienza University (International Scientific Agreements).
Since 2009 she is part of the team of scholars involved in the study of various Oldowan sites from Kanjera Peninsula (Kenya); she is team leader of the use-wear analysis. She is leader of the group in charge of the use-wear, residues and experimental analyses of the chipped stone tools and micro-lithic tools found in these sites.
In 2012 she obtained a Grant FARI (La Sapienza University Grant) to test the feasibility of a project of traces analysis of prehistoric stone objects and stone buildings by the application of digital close range photogrammetry.
In 2012 she was co-organizer of the International Workshop An integration of use-wear and residues analysis for the identification of the function of archaeological stone tools , held in Rome (5-7 of March) and supported by the Conference and Workshop Grants Program of Wenner-Gren Foundation (NY).
In 2013 she was co-organizer of the International Workshop The origin of recycling: a Paleolithic perspective , held in Tel Aviv (7-10 of October) and supported by the Conference and Workshop Grants Program of Wenner-Gren Foundation (NY).
Since 2013 she is part of the team of scholars involved in the study of the Neolithic phases of atalhöyük ( atalhöyük Research Project, director I.Hodder); she is team leader of the use-wear analysis of the chipped stone tools.

ACADEMIC FORMATION
19th April 1988: she obtained the bachelor s degree in Humanity Sciences at the University of Rome "La Sapienza". The degree s thesis concerned the interpretative potential of use-wear analysis applied to Middle Palaeolithic flint industries.
21st October 1997: she received the title of PhD of Archaeology at Leiden University (Holland).
