Attività di ricerca
L'attività di ricerca riguarda l'Ingegneria Strutturale, l'Ingegneria Sismica, la Riabilitazione Strutturale. Essa è basata su sviluppi teorici, elaborazioni numeriche e prove sperimentali.
I principali campi di ricerca sono:
1) Valutazione e riabilitazione strutturale di costruzioni in muratura;
2) Vulnerabilità delle costruzioni, classificazione tipologica e rischio sismico;
3) Problematiche progettuali e interazione veicolo-binario-struttura nei ponti ferroviari.
In relazione alla sua attività scientifica, è o è stato:
- Membro della Commissione per la Normativa Sismica (Sotto-commissione per le costruzioni in muratura) del Ministero delle Infrastrutture e dei Trasporti dal 2012;
- Membro del Consiglio Direttivo dell'ANIDIS (Associazione Nazionale Italiana Di Ingegneria Sismica) dal 2001;
- Membro del Comitato Scientifico dei Convegni Nazionali ANIDIS dal 2001;
- Specialista invitato della Commissione Permissible deflection of steel and composite bridges for velocities greater than 160 km/h dello European Rail Research Institute;
- Specialista invitato della Commissione Rail bridges for speed V greater than 220 km/h Conditions of dynamic deformation dello European Rail Research Institute;
- Coordinatore del Progetto ReLUIS Definition and development of databases for risk evaluation, emergency planning and management ;

Research Activities
The research activity is related to Structural and Earthquake Engineering, as well as to Structural Rehabilitation. It is based both on theoretical and numerical elaborations and on experimental tests.

1) Assessment and structural rehabilitation of masonry constructions;
2) Vulnerability of constructions, typological classification and seismic risk;
3) Design problems and vehicle-track-structure interaction in railway bridges.
