Francesco Sciortino è professore ordinario all'Università di Roma "La Sapienza". Nel corso degli anni si è interessato alla termodinamica di liquidi anomali, alle transizione vetrosa (sia in sistemi atomici che colloidali) e più recentemente al self-assembly di particelle colloidali formate da DNA, coniugando esperimenti, modellizzazione teorica e simulazioni numeriche. Il suo lavoro è stato finanziato anche da un ERC Advanced grant. Research interests:
-Self assembly in colloidal systems and protein solutions, bio-functionalized colloids.
-Aggregation phenomena in colloidal systems, cluster phases and gels.
-Thermodynamics of anomalous liquids, multiple critical points, liquid-liquid transition in water and tetrahedral liquids.
-Glass transition in supercooled liquids. Aging phenomena.
-Percolation and phase transitions in complex fluids.
-Thermodynamics of supercooled liquids. Potential energy landscape formalism.

Publications: I am author of more than 370 publications in international journals. I have coauthored 55 articles which have appeared in Phys. Rev. Lett., 6 which have been published in Nature, three in Nature Materials and two in Nature Physics. Forty six have received more than 100 citations. I have received a total number of citations larger than 20000, of which 1200 during 2017. My ISI-WOS h-index (January 2017) is 70.
