Maria Elisa Crestoni si è laureata in Chimica e Tecnologia Farmaceutiche (con lode) nel 1986 all Università di Roma La Sapienza , dove ha conseguito il titolo di dottore di ricerca in Scienze Farmaceutiche nel 1991 lavorando con la guida del Prof. Fulvio Cacace. Ha svolto periodi di ricerca come visiting researcher nel 1993 presso i laboratori del Prof. H.-F- Grutzmacher dell Università di Bielefeld (Germania) e nel 1997 presso i laboratori del Prof. J. R. Eyler dell Università della Florida, Gainsville; come visiting professor nel 2014 presso l Ecole Polytechnique, Palaiseau (Francia) e nel 2016 presso i centri ISMO and CLUPS (Centre Laser de l Universitè de Paris Sud), presso l Universitè Paris-Sud, Orsay (Francia). Ricercatore presso l Università di Roma dal 1991 al 2001, professore associato di Chimica Generale ed Inorganica dal 2001 al 2018, è professore ordinario di Chimica Generale ed Inorganica dal 2018. E direttore del Master di II livello in Scienze e Tecnologie dei Radiofarmaci dal 2012. E stata partecipante e responsabile di vari progetti di ricerca italiani e finanziati dall Unione Europea presso il CLIO (Centro Laser Infrarouge d Orsay) e nell ambito dell EU_FT-ICR_MS, European Network of Fourier-Transform Ion-Cyclotron-Resonance Mass Spectrometry Centers (Horizon 2020). I suoi interessi di ricerca sono focalizzati allo studio della reattività e struttura in fase gassosa di sistemi ionici di interesse (bio)inorganico mediante la spettrometria di massa (FT-ICR) e la spettroscopia vibrazionale (IRMPD).
