Curriculum

- Pasquale Eduardo Lapenna is a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Aerospace Propulsion at the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Sapienza University of Rome.
- He holds a PhD in Aeronautical and Space Technology from Sapienza University of Rome, with a thesis on mixing and non-premixed combustion at supercritical pressures.
- His research focuses on the modelling and numerical simulation of reactive flows for aerospace propulsion applications, with emphasis on liquid rocket engines, turbulent combustion, cryogenic injection, supercritical-pressure flows, hydrogen-based fuels, and high-performance computing.
- He has carried out research activities at Sapienza University of Rome, ENEA, and the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, and has contributed to national and international projects on combustion, propulsion, and hydrogen-based energy systems.
- His teaching experience includes aerospace propulsion, combustion, turbulent combustion simulations, solid rocket motors and hypersonic propulsion
- He has co-supervised more than 100 BSc and MSc theses and 8 PhD theses in aerospace engineering, propulsion, and combustion.
- He is the author of 41 journal articles, 14 conference papers, and 1 book chapter indexed in Scopus, with 1014 citations and an h-index of 19 (updated May 2026)
- He is a member of the International Combustion Institute and of the Italian Section of the Combustion Institute.
