Prof. Patrizia Paolicelli graduated with honours in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technologies on November 2003 at Sapienza University of Rome with an experimental dissertation on Idrogel biodegradabili ottenuti per fotoreticolazione di destrano e poliaspartammide derivatizzati , carried out under the supervision of prof. Maria Antonieta Casadei. After an experience in a pharmaceutical multinational company, in 2004 prof. Patrizia Paolicelli gained a scholarship and came back to Sapienza University of Rome as a PhD student in pharmaceutical sciences. Prof. Patrizia Paolicelli carried out her PhD both in Rome and Spain (Departamento de Farmacia y Tecnologia Farmaceutiche - Universidad de Santiago de Compostela Campus Vida) gaining a second Marie Curie scholarship for PhD students. In 2008 prof. Paolicelli earned a PhD degree with a dissertation on Nanoparticles as drug and vaccine delivery vehicles , carried out under the supervision of prof. Maria Antonietta Casadei (Sapienza University of Rome) and prof. Maria José Alonso (Departamento de Farmacia y Tecnologia Farmaceutiche - Universidad de Santiago de Compostela Campus Vida Spain). After the discussion of her PhD thesis, prof. Paolicelli was awarded with a Galeno Euro PhD® in Advanced Drug Delivery.
From 2008 to 2014, prof. Patrizia Paolicelli worked as a research fellow in different universities, including Department of Drug Chemistry and Technologies of Sapienza University of Rome, Departamento de Farmacia y Tecnologia Farmaceutiche - Universidad de Santiago de Compostela (Spain) and Bone & Joint research group - Institute of Developmental Sciences - Southampton University (UK).
In 2014 prof. Patrizia Paolicelli received the National Scientific Qualification (ASN) to function as Associate Professor in the 03/D2 academic recruitment field.
From Dicember 2015, prof. Patrizia Paolicelli is a temporary researcher (RTD-B contract pursuant to art. 24, paragraph 3, section b, of Law No. 240/2010) within the CHIM09 scientific-educational field at the Department of Drug Chemistry and Technologies of Sapienza University of Rome.
On Dicember 2018, Patrizia Paolicelli became Associate Professor within the CHIM09 scientific-educational field at the Department of Drug Chemistry and Technologies of Sapienza University of Rome.
Prof. Patrizia Paolicelli holds the course of Pharmaceutical Technology and Legislation (12 ECTS) for the Master s Degree in Pharmaceutical Biotechnologies. Prof. Patrizia Paolicelli holds supplementary educational activities (3 ECTS) in the Master s Degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technologies. Prof. Patrizia Paolicelli also took part to two Master s programs held at Sapienza University of Rome and IOBA (Instituto Universitario de Oftalmobiologia Aplicada, Spain) teaching Tecnologie di produzione di forme farmaceutiche in relazione alla nutraceutica (1 ECTS) and Biomateriales en la terapeutica ocular (3 ECTS).
The present research work carried out by prof. Patrizia Paolicelli is mainly focused on two different research lines: one aimed to design and develop novel polymeric, lipid or hybrid colloidal vehicles for drug delivery; the other research line is based on the synthesis and characterization of hydrogels for applications in the biomedical and pharmaceutical field.
The research activity of prof. Patrizia Paolicelli brought to 57 papers published in international journals of medium to high impact, 1 book chapter, 3 international patents and more than 50 communications in national and international congresses and conferences.
From 2013 prof. Patrizia Paolicelli is in the Professional Pharmacist Association of Rome and is member of some scientific societies, including ADRITELF, Controlled Release Society and Società Chimica Italiana.
