ATTIVITA' DI RICERCA

PRINCIPALI LINEE DI RICERCA

Biologia della riproduzione. Studi al microscopio ottico, elettronico a trasmissione e scansione (convenzionale e a pressione variabile), immunoistochimici e di immunofluorescenza sugli aspetti morfodinamici della fecondazione nella specie umana ed in altri mammiferi, in differenti condizioni ormonali e microambientali, con particolare riferimento a diversi protocolli di fecondazione assistita. Studi ultrastrutturali sulla morfologia dell ovocita umano dopo l applicazione di differenti procedure di criopreservazione. Studi sulla morfologia di ovociti umani e di altri mammiferi immaturi e/o sottoposti a maturazione in vitro. Studi sulla embriogenesi della gonade femminile umana. Studi ultrastrutturali sul complesso luteo-follicolare nell'ovaio umano e di altri mammiferi in condizioni normali, sperimentali (criopreservazione e trapianto di tessuto ovarico, follicologenesi in vitro) e patologiche. Studi ultrastrutturali sulle vie genitali femminili nei mammiferi. Studi sulla vascolarizzazione dell'ovaio e della tuba di mammiferi, effettuati applicando la tecnica della corrosione di calchi vascolari per la microscopia elettronica. Studi sulla morfologia ultrastrutturale di spermatozoi umani sottoposti a differenti protocolli di criopreservazione. Studi sulle caratteristiche morfologiche delle gonadi e dei gameti femminili e maschili di mammifero esposti ad inquinanti ambientali (pesticidi e radiazioni). Studi ultrastrutturali sulla placenta umana (esposizione ad inquinamento da microplastiche).

Studi al microscopio ottico, elettronico a scansione e trasmissione, immunoistochimici e di immunofluorescenza in ambito odontostomatologico (tessuti del dente, materiali, strumenti), su biomateriali, nanomateriali, nanoparticelle, su cellule tumorali e su cellule e tessuti degli apparati cardiovascolare, neuroendocrino, digerente.

Biology of reproduction. Specific research interests: morphodynamics of the fertilization process, in human and other mammals, as it occurs in different hormonal and microenvironmental conditions, with particular regard to protocols of assisted reproduction; ultrastructural morphology of the human oocyte subjected to different cryopreservation procedures; morphological features of oocytes of different mammals including human, immature and/or subjected to in vitro maturation; embryogenesis of the human female gonad; ultrastructure of the follicular-luteal complex, in human and other mammals, in normal, experimental (ovarian tissue cryopreservation and grafting, in vitro culture of ovarian follicles) and pathological conditions; ultrastructural studies on the mammalian female genital tract; vascularization of the ovary and oviduct in mammals; ultrastructural morphology of human spermatozoa treated with different cryopreservation protocols. morphological features of mammalian female and male gonads and gametes subjected to environmental pollution (radiations and pesticides); ultrastructural studies on human placenta exposed to environmental pollution (microplastics).
