Objectives
The course aims to provide knowledge and understanding of the methodological, critical and applicable aspects of the Discipline; it proposes geographical areas and sectorial perspectives in which related projects are activated; it shows the variability of fields of interest; it enables the student to master the specific topics in order to use them and apply them in other fields of study while using the correct specific language. With the acquired knowledge the student will be able to develop autonomous ability of connections with other disciplines in the various historical epochs and cultural contexts.

Programme
The course is divided into two parts. In the first part the course will discuss political, economical, religious, cultural and social key issues of early modern history through the analysis of social processes, their historical interpretations and a direct confrontation with the sources. In this way, students will be given the tools of critical knowledge of the interpretative keys of historical research.
Through the commentary and the seminar work in the second part of the course some topics will be studied in depth. The main ones are: political and jurisdictional structure of the States in formation (2.a), global and Mediterranean connections in early modern age (2.b) and the circulation of information as a global phenomenon (2.c).
During the course the possibility of making students oral presentations of texts or parts of texts of part 2 will be evaluated.

Exam modes
The course includes a written test and an oral exam. Moreover, during the course the possibility of making students oral presentations of texts or parts of texts of part 2 will be evaluated by the teacher.
