Objectives

General Aims: basic knowledge in mathematical methods (linear algebra, analytic geometry,
mathematical analysis, statistics) to solve problems interesting in Pharmacy.
Knowledge and understanding: successful student will know basic notions and results on linear
algebra (vectors, matrices, systems of linear equations), analytic geometry (lines, conics), on
analysis (functions, trigonometric functions, logarithms, limits, derivatives, graphs of functions,
integrals), statistics (means, dispersion, normal distribution, use of tables of normal distribution,
regression line, statistical inference).
Applying knowledge and understanding: Successful student will be able to understand and solve
mathematical problems interesting in Pharmacy.
Critical abilities: successful student will be able to analyze analogies and relations between topics
presented during lessons and Physics and Chemistry topics (presented in relative courses). He will
know also mathematical instruments to solve classic problems.
Communication abilities: ability to communicate contents during exercises in classroom and in
written exam.
Learning abilities: successful student will be able to study, individually or at a higher level
graduation, more specialized mathematical methods for problems interesting in Pharmacy.

Prerequisites

The course requires knowledge of basic mathematics (units of measures, sets, real numbers, powers, equations and inequalities of I and II degree, logarithms, exponentials, trigonometric functions). Such knowledge is needed. No recommended propedeuticity.

Exam modes

Exam aims to evaluate knowledge by a written exam consisting in solution of problems similar to the ones done in exercises. Written exam lasts 3 hours.
To pass exam, it is needed to get a mark not less than 18/30. Student must show to know sufficiently topics on both parts of program (both linear algebra, analytic geometry, analysis, both statistics) and to solve at least simple exercises.

To get a mark equal to 30/30 cum laude, student must prove to know excellently  all the  topics of program and join them logically and coherently.
