Programma dell’insegnamento
Basic Operation of Grid-Connected Three-Phase Voltage Source Inverters:
- review of PWM voltage waveforms for a two-level single phase VSI
- review of PWM line to line and phase voltage waveforms for a two-level three phase VSI
- review of carrier-based PWM
- connection to an infinite power grid
- regulation of active and reactive power
Method of Symmetrical Components, Complex Vectors and Reference Frame Transformations:
- review of the definition of phasor
- positive negative and zero sequence phasors
- method of the symmetrical components in the phasor domain
- instantaneous symmetrical components
- complex vector definition, complex vector equivalent circuit of a grid-connected converter, inverse transformation (from the complex vector representation to the abc components)
- stationary reference frame transformations
- synchronous reference frame transformations
Instantaneous Power Theory:
- Basis of the p-q theory
- p-q theory in three-phase, three-wire systems
- p-q theory in three-phase, four-wire systems
PLLs for grid synchronization:
- basic phase locked loops for three-phase grids: stationary and synchronous reference frame PLLs
- PLLs for single-phase grids
- advanced phase locked loops for three-phase grids under unbalanced and distorted conditions
Grid Harmonic Requirements and Grid Filters:
- grid voltage and current harmonic limits in international standards
- filters for grid connected inverters: L filter, LCL filter, LCL filter with damping
Control of Grid-Connected Three-Phase Voltage Source Inverters:
- dq modelling of the two-level three phase VSI
- principles of current regulation assuming a grid-connection with an L filter: synchronous reference frame cross-coupling decoupling current regulator
- DC voltage control
- voltage-oriented p-q control: open loop and close loop implementations.

Modalità di svolgimento
Il corso è basato prevalentemente su lezioni frontali, alle quali si aggiungono esercitazioni numeriche e di laboratorio per verificare la capacità di mettere in pratica le nozioni apprese durante il corso.

Modalità di esame
Durante il corso verranno proposte delle esercitazioni che gli studenti dovranno svolgere autonomamente e dovranno consegnare. Seguirà una discussione in classe dei risultati.
Le esercitazioni non saranno oggetto di valutazione.
La valutazione consiste in un colloquio orale in cui lo studente dovrà dimostrare:
- la sua conoscenza degli argomenti trattati,
- la sua capacità di articolare il discorso in maniera logica e rigorosa, facendo uso di terminologia appropriata,
- di saper giustificare tecnicamente le sue affermazioni.
