AAF 2007 Other Language Skills

Certificates should refer to language courses, in Italy or abroad, and should include the results of a final exam, detailing the grade and level of the student.

Language certificates are accepted only if they refer to languages other than one’s own mother tongue and/or  a second official language of the country of origin. In case a student got a different citizenship before enrolling to Global Humanities, the language of the adoptive country is equalled to the country of origin and therefore can’t be used to get the credits of Other Language Skills.

English is accepted only in case the last level certified is superior to the entry level submitted during the enrolment process (i.e. if your entry level was B1 you can present a certificate attesting a superior language level, like B2, C1 etc.; in no case the same certificate used to fulfill the admission requirements can be also used to get the credits of Other Language Skills).

All certificates must be uploaded exclusively in pdf format. This document must be named exclusively with the student's surname and first name and uploaded here - https://forms.gle/P74TBNKtzpsSgpQr6 . Once submitted, a certificate cannot be employed again to obtain other CFUs.

AAF 2009 TRAINING AND ORIENTATION INTERNSHIPS

1. Internship relevant to GLOBAL HUMANITIES studies

 a. Identification of an organization or an institution for the training

For an internship to be activated, it is necessary to identify an organization or an institution willing to host the training.

Internship at an organization or an institution that already has an agreement with Sapienza.

Students may choose an organization or an institution that already has an agreement with Sapienza applying through the Jobsoul portal. Please, read carefully the FAQ as well as the tutorial, and remember: once the Progetto Formativo has been approved, students must have it signed by the host institution, sign it themselves and send it to alessio.dirocco@uniroma1.it. This procedure must be fulfilled before the starting date of the internship, in order to activate it, otherwise the insurance won’t be operating and the internship won’t be valid.

Internship proposed by the student

If the student wishes to carry out an internship in an organization or an institution other than those with which Sapienza has an agreement, he/she must upload, in pdf format, the agreement, drawn up according to this model and signed - preferably digitally - by this legal representative of the organization or institution or his/her delegate. The document must be exclusively in pdf format, and it must be named with the sole indication of the name of the student and the name of the organization or institution with which the agreement is to be drawn up. If the an organization or institution does not have a digital signature, the agreement must be signed on paper with a handwritten signature. b. Training project

Once the host organization or institution has been identified, the student must prepare a training project, which must contain the objectives of the training and the activities to be carried out and upload it here - https://forms.gle/ENtDR8UFruQCRrtz7 - at least 30 days before the start of the training. The training project is submitted for approval to the GH Traineeship and other activities (AAF) committee, who will check its consistency with the educational pathway undertaken by the student and the CFUs to be recognised for the activities. Once approved, a notification by e-mail is sent to the student. From this point onwards, the student may begin the training.

c. Recognition of the internship

At the end of the internship, the student must submit the certificate of completion of the internship, giving reasons for any failure (or only partial) achievement of the objectives envisaged by the training project, signed and stamped by the employer and uploaded exclusively in pdf format. This document must be named exclusively with the student's surname and first name and uploaded here - https://forms.gle/teSWu7Tm3ToaqEFj7. The document is submitted for approval to the GH Traineeship and other activities (AAF) committee, who will check its consistency and the CFUs recognised for the activities. 

AAF 2008 OTHER USEFUL SKILLS FOR INCLUSION IN THE JOB MARKET

The Global Humanities AAF Committee will evaluate certificates documenting activities and courses who may be relevant, i.e. IT courses, volunteering, etc. It is also possible to gain credits by attending and participating in Conferences and Seminars (see below).

Conferences, seminars and webinars relevant to GH studies

Conferences, seminars and webinars relevant to GH studies, may be used to gain AAF 2008 CFUs.  Students will have to ask the attendance certificate and write a report. Credits will be granted as follows:

• 1 CFU = 6 hours (conference, seminar etc.) + essay (2000 words, spaces excluded)
• 2 CFUs= 12 hours (conference, seminar, etc.) + essay (2000 words, spaces excluded)
• 3 CFUs = 18 hours (conference, seminar, etc.) + essay (2000 words, spaces excluded)
• 4 CFUs = 24 hours (conference, seminar, etc.) + essay (2000 words, spaces excluded)

Per quanto riguarda le prove di idoneità relative alle lingue Inglese, Francese e Spagnolo si invitano gli studenti a prendere visione di quanto riportato alla pagina https://web.uniroma1.it/cla/af-lingue-esami e a prendere contatto con i docenti indicati per le rispettive lingue.

Le lezioni del corso RELIGIONI HIMALAYANE si terranno nel secondo semestre, nei giorni di Martedì e Giovedì dalle 12 alle 14, presso il Dipartimento SARAS. Le aule dove si terranno le lezioni verranno annunciate in seguito.

Articoli, materiali e documenti di interesse per le questioni trattate verranno condivisi su una apposita pagina Classroom che verrà resa disponibile in concomitanza con l'inizio dell'insegnamento.

Il corso prenderà in esame l’area himalayana nel suo complesso quale punto di contatto di varie influenze culturali e religiose. In particolare, si analizzeranno le specifiche caratteristiche di Induismo, Buddhismo e religioni delle minoranze indigene (adivasi), le loro interazioni, trasformazioni e adattamenti  in ambito himalayano da un punto di vista storico-religioso e antropologico. 

Verranno trattati, tra gli altri, i seguenti argomenti:
La regione himalayana: ambiente, storia, culture
Il concetto di montagna sacra nelle religioni induista e buddhista
Le religioni delle minoranze indigene (adivasi) 
Particolare attenzione sarà dedicata alle tematiche legate a possessione, estasi e trance nelle religioni indigene, nell'Induismo e nel Buddhismo.

Durante il semestre, verranno affrontati  diversi argomenti, in modo da offrire agli studenti un'ampia visione del ricco e variegato patrimonio filosofico e religioso del sub-continente indiano.

Transhimalayan Anthropology and History

During the semester the students will deal with anthropological and ethnographic contents related to, among other things, areas of marginalization often overlooked, if not ignored, by the majority of  South Asia classic studies programs. In particular, we will focus on adivasi cultures, border studies, indigenous issues, conflict studies and ethnonationalism in the context of South Asia. Students will gain deeper insights into the rich and diverse ensemble of minorities of South Asia and their relations with the post-colonial states into which they are embedded.

In particular, the lectures will address the following topics:

1) General introduction:
The Trans-himalayan region: geographical features, history, cultures, religions
Zomia Theory: Van Schendel original proposition and James C. Scott's application
Himalaya and Transhimalaya: India, Nepal, Bhutan, Tibetan Autonomous Region (China), Myanmar

2) Thematic case-study: Nepal
