Alessandro Ruvio graduated with honours in electrical engineering at "Sapienza" University of Rome in 2012. In 2013 he was awarded with the title "Excellent Graduate" by Sapienza University of Rome.
In 2019 he obtained PhD in Electrical Engineering with a thesis entitled "Distortion and faults detection in shipboard AC / DC power distribution system".
From 2022 he is a RTDb assistant professor at the electrical and energy astronautics engineering department of "Sapienza" University of Rome.
He is qualified for the role of Associate Professor in 09/E2 sector
Research activities focus on issues related to the railway and naval systems field both DC and AC, medium and low voltage electrical distribution systems including home and building automation, energy efficiency and power quality. Furthermore, over the years he has gained extensive experience in the field of measurements in electrical installations, carrying out several measurement campaigns with data processing and technical evaluations.
He has worked on five funded projects on energy efficiency and power quality issues for industrial/residential power plants and for naval electrical systems (Enea, Navy, and Ministry of Economic Development). He was holder of three research contracts at Sapienza University of Rome, Engineering Department of Astronautics, Electrical and Energetic in 2013-2015. He held the position of RTDa from 2019 to February 2022.
He received four professional assignments for "Monitoring at University facilities to defining electrical absorption" by Sapienza University of Rome.
In 2016 he spent a period abroad at CERIn - Centro de Excelência em Redes Elétricas Inteligentes UNIFEI - Universidade Federal de Itajubá, Brazil, on the topic of power quality in Smart Grids.
He is the author of the chapter "sistemi di trasporto urbano" for the book " La trazione ferroviaria - i sistemi a guida vincolata " by F. Marignetti; Esculapio publishing company in June 2018.
In educational activities, he is the holder of "Sistemi elettrici per Ia mobilità" course for the master's degree in electrical engineering ( Sapienza University of Rome) and for the course Power Systems for Electrical Transportation for Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree on Sustainable Transportation and Electrical Power Systems (EMJMD STEPS) from He is teaching and co-coordinate "Via e impianti fissi" module for the second level master's degree in railway infrastructure engineering ( Sapienza University of Rome)
Owner of the industrial patent entitled Dispositivo di prevenzione del distacco per sovraccarico di potenza elettrica - n. 102018000007059 - Classifica: H01H71. 20/07/2020.
He is a member of CEI regulatory committees: Tdc 1 - e-mobility and ct 9 - electrical and electronic systems and components for traction.
He is co-examiner of theses carried out in collaboration with Atac, RFI and Italferr.
