ANDREA MICANGELI - Curriculum Vitae

Andrea Micangeli has been continuously teaching Energy Systems courses from year 2001, at Sapienza University of Rome, he is European Director of the Grand Challenges Scholars Program issued by the US National Academy of Engineering, his research activity as adjunct at State University of New York and Strathmore University of Nairobi, is fully dedicated Mini-Grids Optimization and Energy Communities based on the Field Study Abroad experiences.

In 30 years of Renewable Energy activities, he realized more than 80 private public programs and involved more than 800 students in Rural Mini Grids in Asia, Africa, Latin America, and Europe. For RES4Africa Foundation he coordinated 18 sessions of the "Micro Grid Academy at Strathmore University (Nairobi), University of Zambia, Addis Ababa University.With Colleagues from SUNY, MIT, Oxford, and many other Universities he founded the FS4MGO (Field-Study-4-Mini-Grid-Optimization) Research-Group.

As Research Group Coordinator Andrea Micangeli, autonomously and successfully opened inside DIMA-Sapienza department a new set of studies committed to sustainability and mini grid optimization delivering a continuous series of scientific activities fully dedicated to Deterministic, Heuristic, Stochastic and Multi Objective Models of Mini Grid.

Technology transfer: Micangeli is the coordinator of RenewABLE Against Covid the program launched by RES4Africa, Electrician without Border, and the Grand Challenges Scholars Program, with 140 people among professors, professionals, and students (from US, EU and Africa) he launched a specific research initiative on Energy Systems for Covid Emergency Centres in Africa, with a joint training on-line and a real impact on the studied health centres.
