Sapienza University of Rome Associate Professor of Geotechnical Engineering at the Department of Structural and Geotechnical Engineering since 2025. He obtained his MSc in Civil Engineering (2006) and PhD in Geotechnical Engineering (2010) from Sapienza University of Rome. During his doctoral studies, he collaborated with international research groups at the University of Cambridge (UK) and Deltares (The Netherlands).
His research activity focuses on tunnelling and deep excavations in urban areas, mitigation techniques for excavation-induced ground movements, seismic behaviour of earth dams, and geosynthetic-reinforced earth retaining structures. He has participated in several national and international research projects, including PRIN and RELUIS programmes, and currently coordinates research activities on performance-based seismic design of reinforced soil structures.
He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in Geotechnical Engineering at Sapienza University of Rome and has lectured in several postgraduate Master programmes.
He has been a registered Professional Engineer with the Order of Engineers of the Province of Rome since 2007. He serves as reviewer for major international geotechnical journals and conferences and is currently Chair of the Geotechnical Commission of the Order of Engineers of the Province of Rome, as well as member of the Executive Board of the Italian National Group of Geotechnical Engineering (GNIG).
