Principal scientific activities
1) Fluid/rock interaction in fossil meteoric-hydrothermal systems from Antarctica, Great Britain and Greenland as a proxy for the climatic evolution of the earth during the Cenozoic; 2) carbonate-melt interaction in magmatic rocks; 3) CO2 mineral sequestration; 4) stable isotope geochemistry and nature of trace water in Nominally Anhydrous Minerals (e.g. ultra-high-pressure rocks from SE China); 5) characterization of multiple fluid generations in active geothermal areas (e.g. Larderello, Phlegrean Fields, Italy); 5) techniques for stable isotope analyses of fluid and gaseous inclusions. Collaborations with biologists and ecologists to apply stable isotope systematic to geo-biological investigations. Contributions to several international partnerships, including the Italian National Research Program for Antarctic Research, The Deep Drilling Programs, CO2 sequestration research programs. Reviewer for top-ranked journal in geochemistry and petrology, such as Journal of Petrology, Contributions to Mineralogy and Petrology, Lithos, Chemical Geology, Journal of the Geological Society of London, Rapid Communication in Mass Spectrometry, Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta, etc.
