Ricerca:

Ha svolto ricerche nell'ambito di fisica della materia e ha lavorato per comprendere le proprietà fondamentali dei materiali funzionali con particolare attenzione alla correlazione tra la struttura atomica e la struttura fondamentale elettronica. L'obiettivo finale è quello di sviluppare materiali con funzioni avanzate attraverso 'il controllo e la manipolazione' del struttura-funzione nei materiali complessi ed eterogenei.

Ha una lunga esperienza nello studio di materiali complessi con proprietà funzionali (superconduttori ad altà Tc, gli ossidi di metalli di transizione e di altri materiali altamente correlati comprese le leghe binarie e ternarie con diverse funzioni che vanno dalla superconduttività, magneto-resistenza colossale, ferroelettricità, transizioni metallo-isolante e la valenza fluttuante) sfruttando le tecniche avanzate di laboratorio e di radiazione di sincrotrone.

Didattica:

Corsi di fisica generale per gli studenti laurea triennale corso di laurea in fisica e chimica. Inoltre, i suoi compiti didattici comprendono un corso sulle tecniche avanzate di sperimentazione nel campo della biomedicina.

Ha presieduto sessioni scientifiche in una serie di incontri/conferenze. È stato co-chair della serie di incontri su "Stripes e Superconduttività" tema organizzato presso l'Università di Roma "La Sapienza" dal 1996. È stato chaiman di una serie di simposi "materiali disomogenei e fortemente correlati 'organizzato sotto l'incontro biennale su' studio della materia in condizioni estreme 'nel 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015 e 2017 a Miami (USA). Ha organizzato diversi simposi per il European Materials Research Society (EMRS) e fa parte del board of delegates of EMRS dal 2019.
