Francesca Ieracitano (PhD) is assistant professor at the Department of Communication and Social Research of Sapienza University of Rome (Italy). Her research interests focus on: critical algorithms studies, media and migration studies and practices of usage of social networks. Her publications and research activities investigate the role of the media and digital media in the construction of social problems, such as migration, terrorism and diversities related to the stereotyped representation of gender; ageism and ethnicity; the sense-giving process related to online risky behaviors among young users, including, cyberbullying, digital dating abuses and the effects of digital disconnections and online hate speech on users.

- 2009-2019 Assistant Professor in Sociology of communication and cultural processes at LUMSA University of Rome. Responsible for teaching Sociology of Commuication and Media Theories; Culture Industry: genres and Storytelling.
- 2007 PhD in Communication and cultural processes at Lumsa University of Rome: Thesis titled "Processes of culture production in post-modern age. A comparison between two cultural industries and their audience: Auditorium Park of Music of Rome and 'the White Night Event'"
