Erasmus+ is he EU's program to support education, training, youth and sport in Europe for the 2014-2020 period. It replaced some EU programs in the field of higher education, among which the previous program for lifelong learning LLP/Erasmus.

Erasmus+ promotes “mobility opportunities for individuals to improve their skills” (Key Action 1).

The goal of this action is to promote opportunities of structured study or work abroad for students and trainees, whose aim is to provide students with the necessary skills to foster their transition towards the employment market. To this end, Erasmus + offers students the opportunity to study or receive education abroad up to 12 months at any educational level (degree, Masters degree and PhD courses, higher education schools), notwithstanding the type of mobility selected (study or internship) without further enrolment expenses (some taxes of limited amount might be required, to which also local students are subject); this enables students to obtain a recognition of the educational or training activity carried out.
