LINEE DI RICERCA:
My current research activity focuses on investigating the intracellular effects of nutraceutical substances on primary cell cultures. One of the most extensively studied compounds in my projects is Harpagophytum procumbens extract, commonly known as devil’s claw, traditionally used for the treatment of chronic inflammatory joint diseases such as osteoarthritis. In particular, my research has revealed the activation of several understudied intracellular pathways involved in osteoarthritis, and has highlighted an individual- dependent therapeutic response, aligning with the principles of personalized medicine.
Since 2021, my work has expanded to include the development and application of nanoparticle-based formulations, primarily utilizing N- acetylglucosamine, as an innovative drug delivery strategy. This approach aims to enhance therapeutic efficacy while minimizing the required dosage. The findings from these research lines have been published in international peer-reviewed journals and presented at scientific conferences through oral presentations.
