1044022 | TRANSPORT MODELLING AND PLANNING [ICAR/05] [ENG]1st2nd12

Educational objectives

• Objectives of the course
To provide a methodological background for the simulation and the design of transport systems, aimed at the evaluation of interventions on the infrastructure and service network, as well as at the application of polices for the mobility of people and goods. The subjects will be developed through phenomena analyses, model definitions, and algorithm applications to elementary cases. A synthesis of the arguments presented in the course is listed below:
system approach and transport supply – 1 credit
random utility theory and passenger demand modelling – 3 credits
advanced choice models and freight demand models – 1 credit
network loading and assignment – 2 credits
equilibrium models and od matrix estimation – 2 credits
transit assignment – 1 credit
dynamic traffic assignment and network design – 2 credits

1044035 | RAILWAY ENGINEERING [ICAR/05] [ENG]2nd1st12

Educational objectives

• To provide with basic elements of knowledge concerning the railway transport system and
the educational elements to study the railway complex system operation, as well as the design criteria of infrastructure, vehicle and operation itself.

1044015 | URBAN AND REGIONAL POLICY [ICAR/20] [ENG]2nd1st6

Educational objectives

• Main goals
The goal is to develop a critical understanding of urban and regional policies, and namely:
To analyze the process of policy-making in their space-time context so that the students can develop knowledge and understanding of its taxonomy, contents, enforcement at different scales and planned goals
To illustrate different approaches and tools for analysis and evaluation of urban and regional policies, to enable students to assess autonomously their efficiency and feasibility
To develop a deeper understanding of the links between urban policies, transport systems, land use and economic development

• Specific goal
To create skills in developing an integrated regional plan, as an opportunity for the students to apply the theoretical knowledge achieved in class and prepare a technical and scientific document to communicate the plan content.

1044013 | SAFETY AND RISK ANALYSIS [ING-IND/28] [ENG]2nd1st6

Educational objectives

The course aims to provide quantitative methods for safety analysis of complex systems according to all the in force regulations.
Specific aims:
• Theoretical concepts to support the definition of safety goals and criteria of '"acceptability" and "compliance"
• Role of geo-historical-statistical data set:
