Announcements

Pursuant to Article 9 of the Regulations of the Department of Classics, elections are hereby announced for student representation on the Department Board for the 2026–2028 biennium.

Student representation on the Department Board is set at a minimum of 15% (rounded up) of the total number of professors and equivalent staff, amounting to 12 representatives.

Active and passive voting rights are extended to Ph.D. students, specialization school students, and students enrolled in Master's Degree programs belonging to the Department.

The elections will result in the appointment of the full number of expected representatives provided that at least 10% of eligible voters participate. Otherwise, the number of elected representatives will be reduced in proportion to the actual number of voters.

Therefore, all students from the following programs are called to vote:

Master's Degree in Archaeology (LM-2)

Master's Degree in Philology, Literature and History of the Ancient World (LM-15)

Master's Degree in Cultural Heritage in the Near and Middle East, and in Africa (LM-2)

Master's Degree in Mediterranean Archaeology (LM-2)

Specialization School in Archaeological Heritage

Ph.D. School in Archaeology

Ph.D. in Philology and History of the Ancient World

National Ph.D. in Heritage Science

The elections will take place online on October 13, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Further details regarding the voting procedures will follow.

The lists of eligible voters will be published on the Department's website. Each voter may express up to two preferences.

Anyone interested in running as a candidate for representative is requested to submit their candidacy by October 5, 2026, to: segreteriadidattica_dssaa@uniroma1.it. The names of the candidates will be published on the Department's website.

The elected representatives will subsequently be convened for the election of student representatives on the Giunta di Dipartimento.

IMPORTANT NOTICE – Checking the Class Timetable
Students are hereby informed that the class timetables for the 2026/2027 academic year published in the Degree Programme Catalogue (imported from the GOMP system) contain system discrepancies and should not be considered reliable. These pages may contain incorrect information, timetable clashes, or courses belonging to different academic years and curricula.
To avoid misunderstandings and problems with attendance, students are kindly requested to check the timetables by keeping the Programme of Study at hand and consulting each lecturer’s webpage directly.
If information about classes is not available on the lecturer’s personal webpage, please contact the Academic Office.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Clarification on Course Semester Scheduling (BA and MA Degree Courses in Archaeology)
Students and all interested parties are hereby informed that, due to a technical limitation of the GOMP system and the Degree Course Catalog (CdS), information regarding the teaching semester for course units cannot currently be modified.
Since these courses are on an annual schedule, the GOMP system automatically displays the default label "1st semester" (or "N/A") for all subjects.
This issue specifically affects the following degree courses:

  • L-1 Archeological Sciences (code 33521)
  • LM-2 Archaeology (code 33540)
  • LM-2 Cultural Heritage in the Near and Middle East, and in Africa (code 33541)

Lectures will regularly take place in both the 1st and 2nd semesters.
How to check the correct lecture schedule?
To find out the exact timeframe for each course unit, please consult the personal webpage of each professor, where the actual semester of teaching will be specified.

Students are hereby informed that during the Department Council meeting on July 20th (item no. 8 on the agenda), the new Departmental Student Representatives were appointed.
The Representatives act as a direct channel of support and communication for all students within the Department, aiming to gather feedback, proposals, and needs, as well as to facilitate communication with the Degree Programmes and Departmental Bodies.
Please find below the contact details of the appointees:

Note: Please note that the Representatives listed above do not provide assistance regarding tuition fees, enrollment, or academic records. For these matters, please contact the relevant offices directly:
