Starting in 2025, the Faculty’s Academic Office has also introduced a new service: SPAZIO (RI)PARTENZE SMFN—an academic support desk for students (https://smfn.web.uniroma1.it/it/spazio-ripartenze-sportello-studenti-e-s...) This service provides academic and counseling support and aims to understand students’ university experiences and support them by offering guidance and direction as they pursue their educational and personal goals.

Description and Selection Procedure
The Excellence Program is a supplementary program consisting of additional learning activities to those of the Ecobiology program. It can be taken starting in the second year and includes a minimum of 100 and a maximum of 200 hours of activities, agreed upon with a selected tutor and approved by the Degree Program.
The activities may be dedicated to personal in-depth study of one or more topics within the active courses, under the guidance of the program instructor, with the preparation of a report on this in-depth study.
The Excellence Program may also include participation in seminars taught by faculty members from the Faculty and any other qualified national or international institution, as well as a period of study or internship at another Italian or foreign university, institution, or higher education or research organization, according to the guidelines set by the Master's Degree Program.
Upon graduation, when you have completed an excellence program, after approval of the report on your activities by the Degree Program, you will receive a certificate of completion, which will be recorded in your academic record. Along with this certification, the University will award you a prize equal to the amount of tuition paid in the final year of your course.

N.B. The certificate will be awarded upon graduation.
Program of Activities
If you are a winner, you must:

• contact the Dean of the degree program (Professor Porretta, daniele.porretta@uniroma1.it) and the academic secretariat (didattica.dba@uniroma1.it) to inform them of your victory.
• Choose a tutor (a faculty member from the Degree Program)
• Submit a list of the activities you wish to undertake for approval by the Degree Program.

The list of activities, which may be modified upon prior notification, must be sent to the program director (daniele.porretta@uniroma1.it) and to the academic secretariat (didattica.dba@uniroma1.it).
Certification of the Course of Study
Once the activities are completed, by the deadline for submitting the degree application, i.e., approximately 60 days before the graduation session (see the graduands' reminder), the following must be submitted:

• A report, written by the student, describing the course of study
• A booklet (which will be provided to you when you submit the list of activities) in which you must record the activity, the day(s) on which it was carried out, the number of hours completed, and the tutor's signature.
• A written report from your tutor
• A transcript of records with a list of all exams taken and recorded (Please confirm with the academic office that all exams have been taken.)

These documents must be sent to the academic office (didattica.dba@uniroma1.it), cc'ing the Program Director (daniele.porretta@uniroma1.it).

FAQs

• How should the proposal for the activities we would like to include in our curriculum be written (list/summary)? List
• How should the booklet be used? Specifically, should it be signed exclusively by the tutor or should the people teaching any courses/seminars also be signed? It must be signed by the tutor.
• Is it possible to structure the curriculum as a combination of SSAS activities, other seminars, and activities proposed by the tutor? In essence, can it be constructed with a combination of multiple activities? YES
• Are training activities (including seminars and courses) that do not issue a certificate valid? Are they valid, you will then have to report the content in the final report for the Degree Course Council to approve and, briefly, in the presentation to the degree committee.
• Are non-live courses and webinars acceptable? Possibly not; university MOOCs, which also issue certificates, can be considered.
• Are courses on platforms like Udemy, edX, etc., valid? It depends on the course; discuss this with your tutor.
• Is there a deadline after graduation for submitting the signed transcript and the course report? Yes, before the last available Degree Course Council meeting and at least 30 days before graduation.
• To whom should the transcript and report be sent? The Academic Secretariat and the Degree Course President.

Minor in Environmental Sustainability
The Minor is an interdisciplinary program, complementary to the master's degree program in which the student is enrolled. It aims to broaden the student's primary education and develop professionals with additional skills useful for continuing their studies and entering the workforce.
Acquisition of the Minor is certified by a University certification, with the issuance of an Open Badge. If acquired at the same time as the related qualification, it is certified in the Diploma Supplement.
