Degree Programme

The Degree Programme in Audiometric Techniques is aimed at training professionals in the prevention of hearing loss and in the rehabilitation of those affected by diseases of the hearing system. It is also aimed at training professionals in diagnosis and prevention through prenatal screening.

 

Graduates of the Degree Programme in Audiometric Techniques will:

·         know the physiological basis of the auditory and vestibular system;

·         learn the scientific basis of the alterations of auditory and vestibular function as well as rehabilitative methods;

·         know the scientific and cultural basis of fundamental functional alternations as well as general and specialised diagnostic methodologies;

·         acquire methods for threshold audiometry, impedenzometric investigations, and behavioural audiometry in children;

·         know and use the electrophysiological investigative techniques of the auditory and vestibular system;

·         know the basics of acoustic measurements and phonometry;

·         be able to perform otoneurological investigations for the diagnosis of vestibular pathologies;

·         be able to plan and perform a screening assessment in both children and adults;

·         be able to detect and diagnose hearing loss caused by acoustic trauma in the workplace;

·         be able to detect the electroacoustic characteristics of hearing aids and other hearing devices in the context of diagnosis and rehabilitation;

·         know the methods of rehabilitation for the vestibular system;

·         be able to effectively use written and spoken English.

 

Of particular importance to the professional training are the practical training activities and the clinical internship, which are completed under the guidance of tutors belonging to the specific professional profile and coordinated by a teacher with the highest level of training required for the professional profile. These activities, as well as their total number of hours, are adapted to the educational standard defined by European Union legislation.
