Inbound orientation
Through the Orientation Group, the Study Programme promotes incoming orientation by attending meetings with the high school students held every year, in April and September, and during which the specific cultural and professional profile of the degree course is explained.
Every year, at the beginning of the first semester, a meeting is organized with the students of the first and second year of the course, to welcome them to the new academic year and to clarify and provide useful news and deadlines, so that they can organize themselves better and manage their study path independently.
The Degree Course Council also makes use of the Faculty Sort - Pharmacy Area, for guidance activities and first level tutoring, and the Didactic Secretarial Office, for guidance activities and second level tutoring specific to the degree course, including assistance regarding the compilation of a student’s study path and help in solving problems related to the booking of exams.
These services are offered in addition to those provided by the University, which are described below.
The SOrT is the integrated Orientation service of Sapienza. The Service has a central office in the University City and counters located in the Faculties. In SOrT, students can find more detailed information regarding faculties and degree programmes and guidance concerning their academic choices. The central office and the teaching delegates of the Faculty coordinate incoming guidance projects and tutoring, foster relationships with the secondary schools and with the referent teachers of outbound orientation, propose support actions in the delicate phase of transition from school to university, support current students, provide information on the course catalogue and on the administrative procedures for access to the courses. Among the orientation initiatives, the "Doors open to the Sapienza" event is particularly important. The initiative, which is held every year at the University City, is mainly for students in their final year of secondary school, teachers, parents and operators in the sector. It is an opportunity to get to know Sapienza, its course catalogue, study areas, cultural meeting places and the many services available to students (libraries, museums, concerts, conferences, etc.). It supports the university integration process, which involves and regards all those who intend to enroll at the University. In addition to information on teaching, during the meetings, it is possible to obtain information on the administrative procedure both of a general nature and, more specifically, on the enrollment procedures for the various degree courses and to acquire a copy of the calls for participation in the course admission tests. At the same time, conferences are held at the Aula Magna for the presentation of all the Faculties of the University (for more information on the event, see the page dedicated to Doors open to Sapienza on the University website).
The Sector also coordinates the guidance projects specified below and proposes support actions in the approach to the university and in students’ academic careers:
- Project "A Bridge between School and University"
The project "A bridge between school and university" (for the sake of brevity called "Progetto Ponte") was created with the aim of presenting the services offered by Sapienza and the students' university experience.
The project is divided into three initiatives:
• Orientation
Seminars dedicated to teachers of the Higher Institutes who are orientation contacts, to facilitate the exchange of information between the Secondary School environment and the services and projects offered by Sapienza;
• La Sapienza introduces itself
Meetings for the presentation of the Faculties and typical lessons offered by the teachers of Sapienza and addressed to secondary school students on current topics;
• Sapienza of students
Presentation for schools explaining the services offered by Sapienza and narration of the university experience by "mentor" students.
- The "Know Yourself" Project
Self-assessment questionnaire to help students in their decision-making process regarding the choice of study path.
- "Network orientation" project
Orientation and realignment project regarding minimum knowledge requirements. The initiative foresees a preparatory course to facilitate access to the Faculties of the biomedical area that have a limited number of places available, for students in their final year of secondary school.
- Scientific English exam
The project foresees the possibility to take the Scientific English exam in order to obtain credits in the case of subsequent enrollment at this University by the students in their final year of the Lazio High Schools.
- Gong - Nutritional and gastronomic education
Gong (Youth Nutrition Guidance Group) is the acronym chosen to indicate the Nutritional and Gastronomic Education Unit, a service that the Sapienza University offers, free of charge, to all students in order to teach them to nourish themselves wisely but with good quality and tasty food.
Orientation and tutoring in itinere
The Study Course, through the Orientation Group, promotes orientation and tutoring in itinere organizing an annual meeting at the beginning of the first semester, with the students of the third year and subsequent years, to welcome them to the new year academic and clarify and provide useful news and deadlines, so that they can better direct themselves and manage their study path autonomously.
In addition, the Study Programme council annually conducts a meeting to present the optional and complementary courses for students enrolled in their third year of studies and subsequent years. All the teachers who teach in these courses are invited to intervene in order to explain the educational objectives and aims of their teaching, so as to provide students with useful information to better direct themselves in the composition of their study path.
In addition to these initiatives, the tutoring in itinere, coordinated by the Guidance and tutoring Sector, is insured by the Faculty guidance service (SOrT), which provides general information.
The second-level guidance and tutoring activities specific to the degree course, including assistance in the compilation of study paths and assistance in solving problems related to the booking of exams, as well as assistance for students who are “fuori corso”, are provided the Didactic Secretarial Office.
For general information regarding administrative procedures, support for IT services (booking exams, etc.), Italian students can contact the CIAO service (Centro Accoglienza Accoglienza Orientamento). For foreigners, on the other hand, can contact the HELLO service.

The Study Programme promotes outbound orientation encouraging students of the fourth year and subsequent years to spend some days of study in the company of figures from the world of work, who can illustrate knowledge and skills required in their working environments, so that students can consciously arrive at an optimal choice for their future professional career.
The study programme also promotes contacts with the world of work by organizing internships in institutions and companies, aimed at preparing part of the experimental dissertation.
For more information, visit the page What to do to graduate.
At university level, the work orientation service aims to provide Sapienza students and graduates with information and operational strategies which will be useful in the delicate phase of transition from university to the labour market.
The Placement Sector of the Academic Programmes and Right to Study Area takes care in particular of the activities related to: implementation of placement policies aimed at encouraging the entry into the labour market of Sapienza graduates; building a network of relationships and opportunities between companies, associations, institutions, graduates and University; information support activities for graduates; stipulation of agreements for Higher Education and Research Apprenticeships; Back Office activity management of the work section on the Jobsoul Sapienza platform; organization and participation in job orientation and recruiting events; promotion of calls for tenders, selectios and other opportunities for graduates and PhD students through dissemination on the University website and on Facebook and Twitter.
Sapienza uses the JobSoul Sapienza platform to facilitate the meeting between students / graduates and companies, through the publication of job opportunities for students and graduates. On the portal, accredited companies can access the database of student and graduate curricula, download them and insert job offers and traineeships. Graduates can view training and work opportunities and apply for them or apply directly to the company themselves, publishing and updating their curriculum vitae.
Furthermore, in collaboration with the Faculties and Departments, initiatives are organized aimed at encouraging meetings with professionals and recruiters, such as company presentations and Career Days for the selection of candidates, also with the aim of strengthening the network between the University and Enterprises and encourage the work entry of Sapienza students/graduates.
The services offered to undergraduates and graduates of the degree course are advertised on the university portal at the page dedicated to Career Service.
Coordinator for Students with Physical or Learning Disabilities
The Coordinator for people with disabilities and specific learning disorders (SLD) is an indispensable figure involved in communication between students with difficulties enrolled at the Faculty and is a link also with the numerous structures and bodies of the University. The Coordinator connects students and teachers, collaborates with the Rector Delegate for students with disabilities and with SLD, participates in the solution of particular problems related mainly to teaching, and provides advice for those in difficulty regarding which competent structures they need.
