FINAL EXAMS

The final exam is a written dissertation which the candidate needs to elaborate and discuss following the regulations and under the supervision of a professor belonging to their specific course. The Commission will test the candidate’s ability to apply their critical method to the interpretation of ancient texts (critical editions, translations, comments, studies, lexicons, collections), digital or on paper.

The Commission will also test the ability to discuss matters independently and effectively (12 credits, 3 of which for the language test. These 3 credits have to be assigned before the thesis presentation).

The graduation Commission, which is determined at Department level and composed of a supervisor and a co-examiner for each graduating student, having ascertained the presence of the minimum legal number of members, will collegially assign a maximum score of seven points. The Commission can also opt in favour of a cum laude. The graduation Commision can also welcome Professors from different faculties, adjunct professors, researchers and postgraduates (laurea magistrale). However, the majority of the Commision has to be composed of professors and researchers. The thesis presentation is public and involves the active participation of the candidate.
