Course program
At the end of the first year of the course, students must be able to: perform a general physical examination of adults; collect nursing data using the teaching record, in relation to the activities and theoretical knowledge required in the first-year subjects; - be able to identify priority health problems and their related nursing care needs (NANDA Taxonomy); - identify appropriate objectives and interventions and evaluation criteria for the care provided. Students must demonstrate the application of the following standards: Students must demonstrate the following knowledge and skills: - perform social handwashing and surgical antiseptic; - properly dispose of hospital waste. - Know the correct use of PPE, procedures to be followed in the event of contact with body fluids, and isolation procedures (Law 81/2008) - Perform complete hygiene of bedridden patients (eye, nose, ear, and hair hygiene; beard trimming, male and female perineal hygiene, genital hygiene, extremity and nail care, and oral care) - Perform antiseptic baths and showers - Make empty and occupied beds for simple patients - Make empty and occupied beds for complex patients - Prevent and classify pressure ulcers - Know and use pain, pressure ulcer risk, and fall risk assessment scales - Implement techniques to assist the patient in walking; use aids to assist the patient in walking. - Mobilize and position the patient in bed and in a wheelchair. - Perform simple active and passive mobilization exercises. - Correctly perform techniques for moving the patient in bed (toward the edge and toward the headboard). - Correctly perform the transition from the supine to the lateral and sitting positions. - Implement bed/stretcher/chair/wheelchair transfer techniques. - Carry out and manage patient transport on a stretcher or wheelchair, and assist the patient in walking. - Prepare the patient for meals. - correctly perform low-complexity feeding techniques for patients - record weight and height to calculate BMI - monitor fluid balance - use and manage appropriate aids for urinary and fecal incontinence - apply diuresis monitoring techniques - monitor elimination - perform evacuation enemas - manage transurethral bladder catheterization - measure basic cardiovascular and respiratory parameters (blood pressure, respiratory rate, heart rate, temperature, pulse oximetry) - collect, store, and transport urine, stool, and sputum samples for testing - collect samples for diagnostic tests (physicochemical, culture, cytology, histology) - perform and read urine dipstick tests (including determination of glycosuria and acetonuria using a dipstick) - Blood glucose measurement using a reflectometer on capillary blood sampling - Recognize the main organoleptic characteristics of excretions and secretions - Preoperative skin preparation - Hot and cold applications - Management of the urinary catheter - Preparation of the body - Use of the main IT tools used in the operating units (patient admission, transfer, discharge, inventory and pharmacy requests, etc.) - Patient admission and reception upon scheduled admission.

Frequency
Internships enable and facilitate practical technical learning and the development of clinical skills, and take place in the operational contexts of accredited health and social services. During their internship, students are required to maintain behavior appropriate to the professional role they are training for: taking personal care (health, hygiene, appearance); wearing a uniform with decorum and appropriateness, free of jewelry, and displaying their identification badge; addressing patients, their families, and all staff with respect, kindness, and good humor; adhering to internship shifts and schedules; informing their clinical supervisor of any absences or tardiness; and maintaining an attitude consistent with the principles of the Nurses' Code of Ethics.
Exam mode
