PROFESSIONAL WORKSHOPS
Course objectives
The student performs exercises aimed at acquiring knowledge of major maneuvers in nursing practice. After completing this module, the student: Will be able to apply the knowledge acquired about the technical, relational and educational skills. Will develop methodological skills related to care planning. Will develop diagnostic reasoning skills, clinical reasoning and develop methodological skills related to the care planning with particular reference to situations of high complexity. Will prepare therapeutic education plans. Will be able to identify critical areas on which to assume nursing research projects.

Course program
• Patient unit.
• The bed: making of the free and occupied bed; preparation of the bed of the worker.
• Patient recumbency.
• Compression injuries.
• Changes in the position of the immobilized patient.
• Transfer of the immobilized patient.
• Partial hygiene care of: face, oral cavity, eyes, ears, nose, hands, feet, hair, perineal area.
• Total hygienic care: full bathroom in bed, bathtub, shower.
• Hygienic assistance in elimination (intestinal and urinary).
• Feeding the patient: interventions and nursing responsibilities also in enteral nutrition.
• Urine sampling (single, 24-hour, urine culture).
• Bladder catheterization (temporary and permanent).
• Continuous washing, bladder instillation and bladder rehabilitation.
• Collection of stool samples.
• Clisteri.
• Assessment of vital signs.
• Oxygen therapy.
• Aerosol therapy.
• Application of heat and cold.
• Infection control: hand washing, how to wear sterile gloves and how to hand over sterile material.
• The administration of oral drugs, topical, subcutaneous, intradermal and intramuscular.

Frequency
Compulsory attendance of 100% of the total number of hours.
Exam mode
It will focus on questions related to the study programs. It will assess the student's ability to have acquired knowledge related to the contents of the courses and their integrations, and will ascertain the appropriate use of terminology.
The exam will be evaluated in terms of eligibility according to the following criteria:
Not suitable: Poor or deficient knowledge and understanding of the topics; limited analysis and synthesis skills, frequent generalizations of the required contents; inability to use technical language.
Suitable: Good knowledge and understanding of the required contents with good analytical and synthesis skills; good autonomy of judgment and rigorous argumentation of the required contents; good ability to use technical language.
Lesson mode
In particular, the clinical laboratories will be divided into the following phases:
- Plenary (review of the theoretical aspects and recognition of the student's previous knowledge)
- Guided exercises, supervised by the Clinical Tutor, during which the student will have the opportunity to acquire the technical skills for specific procedures
