Course program
1. Aspects of anatomy and physiology of the urinary tract
2. The renal syndromes
3. Chronic kidney disease, quantitative and qualitative evaluation of renal function and diuresis.
4. Staging chronic kidney disease, role of the nurse in different stages
5. Acute renal failure: diagnosis, causes, role of the nurse
6. Hemodialytic replacement treatment (special attention on vascular access)
7. Peritoneal dialysis and haemodialysis at home
8. The kidney transplant
9. Nutritional and replacement dietary therapy of renal failure.
Prerequisites
The course therefore aims to recall the main functions of the kidney and the main renal pathologies and then focus on the role of the nurse in the assistance of different types of patients with impaired kidney function. Students must have good knowledge of kidney anatomy and physiology
